Greetings!

Well it's almost vacation time and as you know from past newsletters I am always pushing up the departure date.  And it's for good reason, I am still trying to shake off winter work hours even now.  Pretty much if I am not RV'ing or upgrading it,  I am working and that makes Bill a very dull and pretty burned out boy.  So I always look forward to our summer trip and go through work withdrawal phases as the trip progresses.  Usually the first day I don't call the office at all, by the second day I start to feel guilty and call in, maybe handle a few issues and feel like I am needed, the third is probably the worse day and really have a hard time with the thought of being away.  Usually I call in or am on my computer and everyone at the office is sick of me troubling them.   After that as each day passes work becomes more and more of a distant memory and get to the point where I don't care if the place burns down I am RV'ING!  (well really I do care, but that's just me justifying my time away)  On a one week trip the shock of returning to work is usually not too dramatic, but I usually feel cheated out of truly relaxing and getting away.  If we are on a 2 week trip, usually by the later stage of the second week I feel pretty recharged and ready to return to work and usually work a ton of hours to make up for me being gone and burn myself out again.  RV'ing is like my therapist, life seems to slow down, I begin to relax all is good with life.  Hey I just realized I need more RV'ing!

Product Review

I first became fimiliar with engine computers when I had installed a SilverLeaf monitor in one of my previous RVs.  When we moved into a class C I missed not having a diagnostic device to fill me in on various   check engine lights.  Looking online I came across the  ScanGaugeII which is designed for light duty vehicles and after a few months of use quickly decided we needed to handle the product line here at RVupgrades.   Since Diesel Pushers use a different engine software protocol I was without a vehicle computer unless I went with a Silverleaf system which was too big for my dash.  So when I heard a ScanGauge for larger Diesel vehicles would be available for my RV back in March I was ready for it.  Last Thursday our stock finally came in and I installed the unit just before a weekend trip and was glad I did.  The number one reason I wanted one of these units was to be able to read   engine fault codes.  When a check engine light comes on in a big diesel motor it generally means trouble and knowing how much trouble is invaluable in determining what steps to take.  In my case we were barely on the road and a check engine light came on and instantly the ScanGauge unit showed the error code.  I quickly read the code to my wife and she punched it into her phone.  Within just a few minutes we knew we had a non responding EGR valve which is an emmisions device and that the motor's horsepower would be derated by 25%.  Before we hit the next rest area she had a diagram where the part was located and possible issues, such as loose wiring.  I shutdown the motor, made sure all the connections where tight, fired it back up and all was clear.  I doubt I fixed it but it was so reassuring to know what the problem was and whether or not I needed to head for service immediately or continue on.  After that bit of excitement I checked out a few of the gauge readings available, and pretty much focus on the MPG and how much I can improve that by driving a little slower.  That alone will pay for the unit in no time!

Product Spotlight
Oxygenics Body Spa Handheld Shower Head

There are 2 things you almost never get too much of at a campground, that is electrical power and water pressure.  There is nothing worse then waking up on a Saturday morning, jumping in the shower, and watching the water dribble out the end of the shower head.  With the Body Spa installed it adapts to low and variable water pressure, producing sensational showers at any water pressure, even as low as 20 psi.  It's also great for those conserving water while boondocking using just 1.9 GPM @ 50 psi and much less when the hand held valve is used.  The way the Body Spa does it is by increasing the water's oxygen content up to 10 times, with the added benefit of purifying the water. It also revitalizes skin by rejuvenating skin cells and will never clog or fail.   Available in Chrome, Nickel & White.

Stay cool and have a great week!
