Greetings!
Reserving a campsite for a holiday weekend has gotten crazy!
So I get a phone call yesterday from Joe & Mike (camping friends) who conference me in and are discussing site choices for Labor Day at a Pennsylvania Army Corp of Engineer campground. You cannot reserve any early than 10 a.m. 6 months prior to your arrival, which should have put the date at March 1st. But Joe determined that due to leap year we are going to be able to register a day earlier. And thank God he did, because exactly at 10 a.m. by my atomic clock in my office (don't tell my boss I am booking campsites while working) I hit the "book it" button and 2 of us got the sites we wanted and the third did not and had to scramble to find one close by. Within 10 minutes pretty much that whole section was reserved.
So when I see those Go RV'ing commercials and they are just traveling around and stop at the most picturesque place you could ever image I wonder how long ago did they booked that spot. Planning out your summer camping schedule way in advance has become a necessity if you are looking for a campsite on any giving weekend in the summer. |
