Mentorship

Do you have questions about your career such as; when is it time to finish up your PhD? How to get a PostDoc? How to find a faculty position? Can I change specialization? Work-life balance....

spARO has two forms of mentorship available this ARO.

1-      You can arrange to me matched with a scientist one stage further along in their career (a graduate student will be matched with a PostDoc for example) prior to the ARO meeting by emailing [email protected]. This person will contact you and arrange a one-on-one meeting with you during the ARO at a time that suits you both.

2-      Or, if you rather, can you attend a 'drop in' mentorship session after the spARO town hall meeting on Saturday, February 25th, at 5.30 pm in the Oxford room.  During this session we will have boards indicating each mentors current career level, area of research and method used so potential mentees can find someone of like interests.

If you are a PhD student, PostDoc, Resident or a Junior Faculty Member and would like for offer your time to mentor please email [email protected].

spARO Town Hall meeting
Saturday, February 25, 5:15 to 5:45pm in the Oxford Room
Elections for the 2012-2013 Steering Committee will be held, followed by an open floor to discuss items pertinent students, PostDocs and medical residents.

There will also be a drop in mentorship session at the end of the Town hall meeting with current PhD students, PostDocs and Junior Faculty available for discussion, so please stick around if you want one-to-one advice on topics such as when is it time to finish up your PhD?
