EcoVillage Newsletter March 2011
|
| Well, I'm waiting to hear the detail on the budget as I write this newsletter. I note with dismay the freezing of Air Passenger Duty, but hope that a commitment to promote low carbon vehicles through company car tax breaks and increased funding for rail upgrades are pushed through. As ever we have a conflict within our green sector - a proposed relaxation of planning rules will potentially make life easier for our renewable energy companies, but may upset those concerned with conservation and preservation of our green spaces. Hope that green businesses would benefit from the early launch of the 'Green Bank' is tempered by the worry that limits on borrowing restrict its effectiveness. Once again, a mixed bag, the difficulty of trying to keep everyone happy is the risk that no one is! |

Our Shows
Sales for the South of England Show this year are picking up nicely and we're looking forward to a more compact but really vibrant and impactful area this year with lots of variety for visitors. This show is on the 9th to 11th June 2011 and attracts 85,000 visitors over 3 days.
How could I have forgotten The Kent County Show in my last newsletter? Our 4th year there and we are hoping to offer a great demonstration in renewable energy and also to put together a test track for electric bikes and scooters this year, as well as our usual mix of almost 90 exhibitors which is making this a real destination area for the 100,000 visitors over 3 days.
The Royal Berkshire Show for the first time this year. This is a lovely 2 day show in mid September, and a great way to finish the summer show season. Over 65,000 visitors: 55% interested in the shopping areas and over 20% interested in sustainability (even with no EcoVillage last year!), we think this will be a great addition to our show list.

Featured Event: BBC Gardeners World Live 2011
June doesn't seem too far away now, and the marketing wheels are already grinding into motion at Gardeners World Live - so if you're thinking of booking, it really is worth you letting us know soon, and we can make sure you are represented in the fantastic Show Guide which is given away in the thousands at the event, as well as the extensive ongoing pre show marketing - it really is worth getting that additional coverage!
Gardeners World Live is at the NEC and is 105,000 people over 5 days, and judging from all the questions we had last year - they want to know about Eco products, so jump on board! We already have some great exhibitors booked: incognito, Ecoswitch, Guttermate, Strulch and Solar Concepts... but we still have some great main thoroughfare spaces, so do give us a shout!

Sponsorship
We met Eco Charge at the Pea Awards this year, and were immediately struck by how much fun getting the 'green' message out there really could be! Ecocharge believe that involving audiences in sustainability by making things fun to do can change people's behaviour for the better. They design and produce interactive event experiences that have kinetic energy innovations at the heart and engage people in a live experience that creates word of mouth.
A sponsorship package with The EcoVillage could include Pedal Powered Internet Access which as well as being a people draw can also increase online presence.
Mobile Phone recharging - up to 2000+ devices can be charged a day by human pedal power - a real off grid people magnet
Pedal/Solar Powered Accoustic Music or Solar DJ entertains the audience and directly connects them with solar energy, in a fun way.
If you'd like a sponsorship package with a difference, then just let us know! |
