Month/Year
Fall Celebration
Greetings!

Welcome!
Isn't it amazing!  One week we are still in summer, the next the leaves are turning and the next they start falling.  What an amazing world in which we live.  If you live in the Canton Lake area, head down Thunder Road this week - it is absolutely beautiful and a lot cheaper than those East Coast Fall Foliage Tours.

Let's Holly Dazzle

As a thank you to our clients during the holiday season, each time you come to Knowledge tree from November 15 until December 16, you will get 6 tickets in the Fairview Bucks/Holiday Dazzle drawings. We will be turning in tickets weekly before each drawing and you must be present to win. Refer your friends and they can get tickets for initial assessments completed between November 15 and December 15.

The first drawing is November 19, 2011 immediately following the Parade at the corner of Main and Broadway.

On November 26, 2011, you can have pictures with Santa at the Farm Bureau during the evening and Fireworks start downtown at 7 pm. There will be a drawing immediately after fireworks, again at the corner of Main and Broadway.

Then, on December 17, 2011, be downtown at the corner of Main and Broadway at noon for the final Drawing.

Have a dazzling Christmas.

Sports and your Brain

Sports may actually make kids think faster. A study in the Journal of American College of Sports found that athletes appeared to have a faster processing speed than non-athletes, likely due to regularly making split-second evaluations and decisions.

This is something brain training students have realized. Students who come to Knowledge Tree for academic reasons routinely report improvement in sports. Brain training strengthens cognitive skills (including processing speed) and clients, in turn, become better athletes, reporting they can read the playing field more clearly, quickly and fully, think several moves ahead, and focus longer. They also report better hand-eye coordination, better mastery of the playbook, and even better balance.

Aside from the mental benefits, the physical benefits of exercise are well documented. According to the American Heart Association, physical activity helps control weight, reduce blood pressure, and reduce the risk of certain cancers and diabetes. The Centers for Disease Control recommends children and adolescents get at least one hour of physical activity each day.

If your kids are having trouble meeting that goal, consider an organized youth sport.
Aside from the physical benefits, participating in youth sports can build self-esteem and confidence, leadership skills, and self-discipline. It can also teach the value of sportsmanship, teamwork, time management, perseverance, cooperation and more. Plus, and perhaps most importantly for kids, it can be a whole lot of fun.

Lunch and Learn

If you would like to treat your office to some brain training and lunch, give us a call 580-822-0105.  We have a Lunch and Learn program where we provide lunch and 15 minutes of brain training information.  It includes a drawing for a free initial assessment and a book for the person who refers us.

Nutrition Makes a Difference

Did you know that the USDA now recommends you make half your plate fruits and vegetables at every meal?  7 to 13 servings of fruits and vegetables are now suggested.  Read more at www.choosemyplate.gov

If you have problems meeting this requirement, you might check out Juice Plus, an all-natural, whole food based nutritional product, a concentrate of 17-25 fruits and vegetables, in chewy or capsule form.  Check out the videos on their site - particularly the ones from the doctors.  It's almost scary what they are predicting for children today.

Drinking water is vital to brain functioning.  They say the first place your body pulls water when it is getting dehydrated is from your brain.  If you aren't drinking 1/2 of your body weight in ounces of water each day you are probably dehydrated.  So a 120 pound woman would need 60 ounces of water each day. AMAZING!

Thank you for your dedication to making minds work better.  The brain is an amazing creature - what we believe happens with it, so remember to fill your brain with positive thoughts and to embrace change - the topic for our next newsletter.

Be sure to take advantage of our special offers for initial assessments and our lunch and learn opportunities.  Make a difference in your life and the life of the ones you love.

Sincerely,
