Special Town Meeting
The Brick SchoolhouseA Special Town Meeting will be held on the morning of June 2nd, at 10:00 am, in the Town Hall, to ask the voters of our community to authorize the Selectmen to become agents for the Building Capital Reserve fund. This would allow the Selectmen to cover the cost of the Health and Safety renovations on the Old Brick Schoolhouse (our Town Offices) ordered by the Department of Labor.

Last week a Public Hearing was held on the following Warrant Article.  If you were unable to attend this hearing, you may read the Minutes of the Public Hearing.

Warrant Article:
"To see if the own will vote to allow the Board of Selectmen to become agents for the Town Buildings Capital Reserve Fund and as such allow them to make withdrawals from the Fund.  It is further stipulated that any funds withdrawn by the Selectmen be used only for the purposes including renovations, preservation, and repair of the Town Buildings and for no other purpose.  The need for any withdrawal must be posted by the agents prior to their regular meeting of the Select Board and a roll call vote of the majority of the Board will be required to authorize the withdrawal."

No money would be raised at the meeting. This money has already been raised and appropriated to the Town Buildings therefore the process would be a simple posting procedure.

The DRA suggests this is the only special fund to consider using to cover the project as it is already specifically for the Buildings.

Trails GroupThe Nelson Trails Group will be holding a work day on Saturday, June 2nd, beginning at 1:30 pm.

Progress has been made on the loop trail from Kathy and Duane Schillemat's, by the old mill site and the wetland opposite the Nelson School. Kathy has flagged much of the first part of the route and Troy Tucker has cleared the part of the return that goes through his land.  In terms of clearing, this will be our most ambitious project so far with no old town roads to help us.

The first of what will be several work days will be ...
