What is 'Blackboard Connect'?
Blackboard Connect is a new communication system for all schools in SAU 29. School incidents that have happened in nearby towns prompted administrators to purchase this system to help keep all parents and families informed.

Blackboard Connect services allows the SAU to send time-sensitive notifications to each of its school families in a matter of minutes.  Voice-recorded messages sent to your phone could include notifications of school closings, school emergencies, or other important messages that need to reach each parent or guardian speedily.

The system, however, will only work as well as the information that it has. Please make certain that you send to us any changes in phone numbers or e-mail addresses so that we can keep the system up to date.  Contact Kim Keating at Nelson Elementary School to update your contact information or to add more phone numbers to the Contact List. Call 847-3408.

Agape Cooking Class
This month's class will be held on May 11th at the home of Lew and Laurie Derby from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. The theme for this class will be "Local and In Season". We look forward to learning what to do with fiddleheads and asparagus, parsnips and rhubarb.

Come join us! Participants are asked to bring ingredients or dishes with recipes if they wish.

Please contact the Derby family at 847-9966 if you would like to attend.

"A Night to Remember" Book Discussion
She was the world's biggest-ever ship.  A luxurious miracle of twentieth-century technology, the Titantic was equipped with the most ingenious safety devices of the time.  Yet on a moonlit night in 1912, the "unsinkable" Titantic raced across the glassy Atlantic on her maiden voyage, with only twenty lifeboats for 2,207 passengers.  "A Night To Remember", Walter Lord's 1955 classic novel, is the gut-wrenching, minute-by minute account of her fatal collision with an iceberg and how the resulting tragedy brought out the best and worst in human nature.  Some gave their lives for others, some fought like animals for survival.

The Library Book Discussion Group meets on May 21st at 10:00 am.  "A Night to Remember" may be borrowed from the Library.
