Greetings!

Today's Quote: "The life I touch for good or ill will touch another life, and that in turn another, until who knows where the trembling stops or in what far place my touch will be felt."
~ Frederick Buechner

Do you know what happened on this date in town history 238 years ago?   Nelson became an incorporated town in the Province of New Hampshire on this day in 1774 by decree of Governor John Wentworth and was named as "Packersfield", after a major proprietor, Thomas Packer, the sheriff at Portsmouth.  It wasn't until a good two years later that New Hampshire broke off from Great Britain in January 1776.  And even then, it wasn't until June 21, 1788 that New Hampshire became a state.

See?  The Town of Nelson has always been a leader!
This concludes our history lesson for today.

Happy "Incorporation Day", Nelson!

Book Discussion Group @ the Library
The Library Book Discussion Group will meet Monday morning at 10:30 on February 27th.  We will be discussing the book "Tiger's Wife" by Tea Obreht.

Book Synopsis:  In a Balkan country mending from years of conflict, Natalia, a young doctor, arrives on a mission of mercy at an orphanage by the sea. By the time she and her lifelong friend Zóra begin to inoculate the children there, she feels age-old superstitions and secrets gathering everywhere around her. Secrets her outwardly cheerful hosts have chosen not to tell her. Secrets involving the strange family digging for something in the surrounding vineyards. Secrets hidden in the landscape itself.

Books may be taken on loan from the Olivia Rodham Memorial Library to be read in preparation for this discussion.  We hope you will be able to join us for this monthly event.

Do You Knit or Crochet?
Knitters & CrochetersIf you love to knit or crochet or would like to learn, this is the place for you. The members of the Knitters & Crocheters Club have a combined experience of hundreds of years of knitting and crocheting. At every meeting tips and patterns are freely shared and the coffee pot is always on.

We'll be meeting this Thursday morning, February 23rd, at 10:00 am at the Chapel By The Lake.  We look forward to meeting you and having you join us.  We'll help keep you in stitches!
