Our pack, chartered to the Nelson Congregational Church, has been in existence almost 25 years, and has produced a prodigious number of successful young men, as well as a disproportionate number of Eagle Scouts. | Lissa Schneckenburger in Concert | World class fiddler and local hero Lissa Schneckenburger and Boston-based guitarist Bethany Waickman come to the Nelson Town Hall on Friday, October 7th for an 8 PM concert. Admission is $12/$9 (senior, youth & advance internet). The traditional music of New England can be as warm and comforting as a winter fire or as potent and exhilarating as a summer thunderstorm. Fiddler and singer Lissa Schneckenburger is a master of both moods, a winsome, sweet-voiced singer who brings new life to old ballads and a skillful, dynamic fiddler who captures the driving rhythm and carefree joy of dance tunes old and new. Whether playing for a folk club audience or a hall full of dancers, Lissa brings to the stage enthusiasm, energy, and the bright future of New England's musical traditions.

 | Rummage Sale October 15th | The Nelson Congregational Church will hold a Rummage Sale on Saturday, October 15th from 9 until noon.
One of the great things that makes our rummage sale so unique is a "Donation Box" for your free-will offering when you purchase items. So, take what you will use and give what you can. Proceeds will be used to help local families in need.
This year we will be doing something a little different in that we will be accepting clothing for all seasons, and any clothing not taken during the Rummage Sale will be donated to InterAct, a KHS organization, to take on one of their mission trips.
For more information on the Rummage Sale, please email the church: nelsonchurchucc@gmail.com |
 | Anyone Up for a Halloween party? | Shortly after Halloween last year it was mentioned that this holiday was rather overlooked as an opportunity for everyone to have some spooky fun! A group of parents and friends thought that Halloween this year could be different.
Plans and ideas are still rolling in and are being discussed, but, this group would like to know what YOU think. Some folk met recently to discuss the idea.
Here's just a taste: * The Halloween event would be held at one location, allowing more children to participate (location to be determined) * Each and every child in each of our various neighborhoods would be encouraged to be a part of the evening's fun. * There would be food, or course, and treats for all of the children. * How about a costume contest for the different age groups? * Who has ideas about music, games, prizes, or a program of events? * Who is willing to be chaperones, or take part in other volunteer opportunities? Who can tell spooky stories?
Anyone with any comments, ideas, suggestions, or a wish to volunteer is asked to contact Candyce or Joy.
So ... what do YOU think? Come to the 1st Thursday Pot Luck Supper tomorrow evening at 6:30 p.m. and let's talk and plan!

 | Supervisors of the Checklist |
The Supervisors of the Checklist will be meeting at the Town Offices on Friday, October 14 at 7:00 PM. This will be to register new voters, make additions/changes to the checklist and voters may change their party affiliation at this time. This will be the last time that anyone can change their party affiliation before the Presidential Primary. The primary date is not set yet as NH is trying to be first and they are waiting to see about some other states.
