Greetings!
Thank goodness that Hurricane Irene left us in our community with minimal damage and power outages! If you are in need of any help with storm clean-up, or have the tools and equipment that you'd be willing to loan your neighbors in the clean-up effort, please visit the new Marketplace and list your needs in the Services Available / Services Needed section. Having this section was one of the main reasons that folks in Nelson and Munsonville wished to have this online resource.
A couple of the highlights from the Marketplace include a request for a Ride Share, the offer of drawing and painting lessons, pickling cucumbers, a leisure bike, and photography services. We are a diverse and exceptional community, aren't we?

 | Happy School Year!
| Another exciting year of learning is before us! Nelson Elementary School will welcome students to the 2011 - 2012 School Year bright and early tomorrow morning. School bus routes and pick up times are the same as last year, but you are asked to have your student ready and at the bus stop about five minutes early.
There's something special in store for the Nelson Elementary School students tomorrow morning! Bagels will be served in the Multi-Purpose Room during the morning assembly. Yummy! What a fun way to begin a new school year.
Students who will be attending Keene Middle School (in the new school building!) and Keene High School will begin their 2011 - 2012 School Year next week, on Tuesday, September 6th. Moving In Step has published a school bus pick up schedule on the home page for your convenience.
Best of luck to all of our students this year! |
 | Our Community's Monthly Events Are Back!
| Summer was wonderful, wasn't it? But some folks have really missed not meeting with friends and neighbors on a regular basis. Beginning tomorrow, September 1st, our community will once again be holding all of those monthly social gatherings and meetings.

 | Pot Luck Supper
| Every first Thursday evening from September through June, Moving In Step hosts a 1st Thursday Pot Luck Supper.
These Pot Luck Suppers are so much fun, and we never know what we'll be talking about. What we DO know is that it's wonderful to get together every first Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Henry Melville Fellowship Hall of the Nelson Congregational Church. We are so very thankful to the Nelson Congregational Church for continuing to allow us to meet in the Hall this year. Our 1st Thursday Pot Luck Supper will be held tomorrow at 6:30 p.m., and everyone is invited. You are encouraged to bring a covered dish, or a dessert, and your own plates and utensils. We look forward to this time every month as a chance to listen to the ideas brought forth by members of our community and to hear what concerns them as well. See you tomorrow evening! |
 | End-Of-the-Season Ice Cream Social | An Ice Cream Social & Nelson Town Band Concert, always a fun event, will take place on the grounds of the Nelson Congregational Church on Sunday, September 4th, at 3:00 p.m.
Don't forget to bring your lawn chair to set up on the grounds of the Nelson Congregational Church to enjoy the festivities.
Enjoy locally-made ice cream, and delicious toppings: hot fudge, hot butterscotch, strawberries, blueberry sauce, raspberry sauce, and a generous squirt of whipped cream. Bring friends and families to enjoy this summertime favorite!
If you would like to volunteer for this event, contact Joy Birdsey Ice cream is $4.00 for a single scoop; and $5.00 for a decadent double scoop.
