Greetings!
It's time to start chanting 'rain, rain - go away', don't ya think? By the time we can get out to mow the lawn, we'll need a whole herd of cows or sheep to get the grass down to a manageable level!
On a more positive note, though ... there have been a couple of glorious rainbows from time to time. Did you see any of them?

 | Nelson School Strings Recital tomorrow | Our very first Nelson Strings Program violin recital! All school year long, interested students at Nelson Elementary School have been learning to play the violin under the brilliant tutelage of Sarah Kim, a member of the Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music.
It will be May 19, 6 pm at Apple Hill. We'll start with dinner, the girls will play, and then the Apple Hill Quartet will play something short as well as Harvey Tolman and Gordon Peery, local guest fiddlers.
As Sarah says: I hope this (recital) will not put any pressure on the girls - the program will not be too long, it's good for the girls to have something to gear up for, and it's a great way to show what they've learned in a friendly environment!
Just for fun: here is a YouTube clip of Mark O'Connor playing 'Boil 'Em Cabbage Down'. His version is a 'little' more sophisticated than what the girls are learning, but it is still fun to listen to! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fyt646v4hxA
Location: Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music Date: Thursday, May 19, 2011 Time: 6:00pm-8:00pm EDT

 | Weekly Community Quote | "In our hectic, fast-paced, consumer-driven society, it's common to feel overwhelmed, isolated and alone. Many are re-discovering the healing and empowering role that community can bring to our lives.
The sense of belonging we feel when we make the time to take an active role in our communities can give us a deeper sense of meaning and purpose." ~ Robert Alan |
