Greetings!

Come join us for the annual May Day Celebration in Nelson  on Sunday, May 1st.

Hale and hearty residents can begin the May Day festivities as early as 5:30 am on the Nelson Town Common.  Greet May Day morning with the Harrisville Morris Women and Jack in the Green as they dance the sun up over the hills of Nelson.

Later, we'll come together at about 10:30 am on the Town Common, some to dance and others to visit with those we may have not seen since the first snowflake fell. The children are delighted with the bright colors of the May Pole ribbons, waiting their turn to help weave the ribbons when it's time for the May Pole Dance. But first, we are treated to the trumpet sounding of Jack In the Green as he heralds the arrival of another beautiful Spring in Nelson.

Lunches Needed
The re-building of Mary Des Rosiers' home is in full swing!
A crew of 4-5 people are working almost daily to build the new house. These workers need lunch! If you would be willing to pack lunch for the crew (one time or occasionally), please call Amy Bright at 827-9808 or Allison Aldrich at 209-3304.

If you can pack a lunch but can't deliver it, arrangements can be made.  Thank you!
Show Your School Spirit!
Every year the students at Nelson Elementary School compete to have their drawing adorn the school's T-shirt for the year.

This year's winner is 2nd grader Fallon Smith, daughter of Joy and Peter Smith.  Of course, the theme this year has to do with gardening! And Fallon's imagination really shines through.  Congratulations, Fallon!

Fallon's design will adorn a T-shirt, either a short-sleeved T-shirt or long-sleeved T-shirt in sizes children's small through large, or long-sleeved or short-sleeved T-shirt for adults in sizes small through 2X.  The shirts are yellow with green lettering.

You can download an order form here: Order Form
The T-shirts cost $10.00 for short-sleeves, or $15.00 for long-sleeved.
Thank You, Volunteers!
Meals On Wheels will begin delivering meals in Nelson in early summer and we'd like to say 'Thank You' to those who have volunteered to be a part of this community service.

Our initial Training Session will be held on Wednesday morning, May 11th, 9:00 am at the Nelson Congregational Church.  There's still time for YOU to sign up to volunteer!  Volunteers may choose to deliver once a month or more; substitutes are also needed. The Nelson service will be part of the Cheshire County Meals On Wheels program sponsored by Home Healthcare, Hospice and Community Services (HCS).

These Houses Need a Home!
Constructing the bird housesRecently Mr. Carlisle and Mr. Castor visited the children at the Nelson Elementary School to help them with a wood-working project.  Under their watchful guidance, the students were able to construct many beautiful (and now colorful) birdhouses.

Now the students would like to send them out into the community. Since they are so beautiful, they are hoping to have them used in places that lots of people (as well as birds) will see.

All in a rowDo you have a home for a free and colorful birdhouse?
