Greetings!
Happy April to you!  The days are getting longer, and thankfully, a bit warmer.  Time to get out and about visiting people, taking in local exhibits, and breaking bread with one another.

And, on the Calendar, you can do some of each!
Have a wonderful week.
Thank You!
PTO AuctionWhat a great turn-out for the 4th Annual PTO Auction!  Thank you to EVERYONE who came to bid.  Thank you to EVERYONE who helped to plan and bring the whole evening together.

All in all, over $7,000 was raised in this year's auction.  In a community of 657 folk, in a time when budgets are tight we raised more than last year!

The bulk of this will fund various PTO programs throughout the school year, and help directly with the 6th Grade Graduation.  The remainder will be put towards the students goal of owning a community greenhouse.

Yes!  We already have about a dozen folk and/or donations for next year's Auction!  For auction details, contact Joy Birdsey

Library Exhibit
Doll ExhibitRegion 15 of the United Federation of Doll Clubs display is at the Olivia Rodham Memorial Library.  Many thanks to Jacqueline Roland and the Tuesday story time group for helping to get all of the dolls and characters displayed.

The library is sponsoring a traveling Doll and Book Exhibit. Each doll in the exhibit represents a book, including favorites such as "Corduroy", "Berenstain Bears", "Arthur", "Curious George", and "Snow White". There are close to 100 dolls in this exhibit.
Doll Exhibit
The purpose of the display is to stimulate interest and educate, especially young people, about the wonderful world of doll collecting.

The exhibit will be on display throughout the month of April.
Meals on Wheels Update & Pot Luck
Susan Ashworth, Director of Community Relations of Home Healthcare, Hospice and Community Services, will meet with interested residents and pot-luckers on Thursday, April 7th, at 7:00 pm in the Melville Hall of the Nelson Congregational Church.Meals on Wheels

Susan will update the community on the progress of bringing "Meals on Wheels" to our neighborhood.  While the budget situation for human services in New Hampshire has deteriorated considerably, the need for such a program steadily grows.  Therefore, HHSC is currently working on proposals for services for next year, but the word from the Department of Health and Human Services is for less funding than last year for Meals On Wheels in the face of rising gas and food costs.

We invite you all to attend this special 1st Thursday Pot Luck Supper for April so that we can all put our heads together and come up with possible solutions.  The Pot Luck begins at 6:30 pm.
Italian Extravaganza!

Come - Eat - Talk - Enjoy!!
2nd Saturday Contra Dance
Two fiddlesThe Monadnock Folklore Society presents the Nelson Second Saturday Contra Dance on April 9th, featuring Dave Eisenstadter calling with Bo Bradham on fiddle and Gordon Peery on piano.

Fiddler Bo Bradham was one of the founding members of David Kaynor's Greenfield Dance Band.  Gordon Peery, of Nelson, NH, plays piano with gusto, appearing with bands such as Celticladda and Airdance.

Dancing begins at 8:00 PM, with a short workshop beforehand. Beginners and singles are welcome and all dances are taught throughout the evening. Admission is $8 or $6 for students and seniors. The dance takes place in the historic Town Hall in Nelson, NH. For more information call 603.762.0235.
NELLs Luncheon
Thai Garden RestaurantCome join us at Thai Garden in Keene for our next NELLs Luncheon on Wednesday, April 13th.  The luncheon begins at 12:30 pm.

The NELL's luncheon (Nelson Ladies Luncheon) happens on the Second Wednesday of the month. We usually meet at a restaurant in Keene and split the bill by the number of people who attend. It's a great chance for people to get out and see folks work in Keene.

If people are interested in being on the announcement list for which restaurant and when to make reservations by, they should contact
Bert Wingerson.
