9 Days Left
There are just nine days left to offer your donations to the 4th Annual PTO Auction, to be held on April 2nd of this year.  The students at Nelson Elementary themselves are bringing in donations every day, in hopes that enough money will be raised to purchase a greenhouse this year.

*** Deadline for donations is Friday, March 25th.
Items received after the deadline will be entered in the silent auction. ***

You can visit the auction website and download a Contribution Form.

Weekly Community Quote
"What should young people do with their lives today? Many things, obviously. But the most daring thing is to create stable communities in which the terrible disease of loneliness can be cured."
~ Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.
Benefit Concert for Mary Desrosiers
Renowned folk musicians Lui Collins and Garnet Rogers are joined by the Animaterra Women's Chorus in a special concert to benefit Mary DesRosiers and her family.

The benefit concert will be held this Saturday, March 19th at 7:30 pm.  Advance ticket purchase, from www.monadnockfolk.org, is recommended.

As you may recall, Mary lost her home, pets, and all of her possessions in a house fire at the end of November, and several organizations and friends are scheduling events in order to help.

The concert will take place at the Union Congregational Church, 33 Concord Street in Peterborough.

Knitting and Crocheting Club
Did you know that The Knitting and Crocheting Club meets at the Chapel By the Lake in Munsonville every other Thursday morning from 10AM to 12PM?  Meetings are scheduled for  January 6 and Jan 20, 2011.

Currently members are working on a variety of projects- prayer shawls; hats, mittens, and scarves for homeless and needy children, helmet liners for our troops overseas, a sampler afghan and other personal projects. The next meeting will be tomorrow, March 17th.

If you love to knit or crochet or would like to learn, this is the place for you. Our members have a combined experience of hundreds of years of knitting and crocheting. At every meeting tips and patterns are freely shared and the coffee pot is always on.
We invite you to join us!

For more information and to confirm meeting dates, call Marion at 847-3231.

Ready For Spring?
Spring will be here on Sunday!Snow-covered
Hooray!

On the gardening front ... Val Van Meier lets us know:
"I need to dig up daylilies and would welcome help. Tall Phlox is once again taking over and needs division. I'm sure as I dig I'd think of or find others to share as well."

Contact Val Van Meier via email.  While we're pretty sure that this offer does not mean as soon as tomorrow, it would be a good idea to plan ahead and set a date.  Your garden will benefit and her garden will benefit.  Isn't that what it's all about?

Let's Celebrate Nelson!
Plans are underway to Celebrate Nelson and to congratulate our selves on getting so many projects off the ground since the Nelson Community Forum held last September!

The new Committee Chairpersons have been meeting with the Moving In Step Steering Committee to make plans for a town-wide 'bash' to be held some time in April.

The next meeting of this planning group will be Tuesday evening, March 29th, at a location to be announced.  Committee Chairs and/or their alternates are encouraged to attend.

The Celebration of Us will be so much fun, with updates being offered, great food, and music performed by our very talented Nelson musicians!

First Tuesday Tea for April
The First Tuesday Tea will be held on Tuesday, April 5th at 10:00 am @ Judi Lang's, on Murdough Hill Road.

Did you know that the First Tuesday Tea grew out of the Ladies Aid that was once very active here in Nelson? Over time, it was determined that there would always be a need for people to get out and see one another regularly, particularly the elderly folks who are mostly at home.  So, First Tuesday Teas were established.
