Greetings!
Only six days until March! Will it come in like a lion, or a lamb? We shall see. We shall see.
This week we have a very long newsletter for you. As the days get longer and the weather is more cooperative, there's always more that gets added to our calendar. People to see. Places to go. Things to do. You know how it is ...
Many, many thanks to all of the people who have contributed to this week's issue. We couldn't do it without you.

 | Weekly Community Quote
| "For a community to be whole and healthy, it must be based on people's love and concern for each other." ~ Millard Fuller |
 | 'Heating Up' for March | March rolls around each year with more than the usual anticipation of the warmer days of Spring's arrival. The weather may warm up ... but things have been known to 'heat up' as thoughts turn to the Annual Town Meeting.
This year's Town Meeting will be held on the second Tuesday of March, the 8th, promptly at 7:00 pm in the Nelson Town Hall. The voting of the candidates for town offices and the School Board will close just before Town Meeting begins. The polls will be open for most of the day beginning at 11:00 am in order for you to cast your vote for your candidate.
For the past few weeks we have published the names of the candidates and the office for which they are running. This week is no exception to that habit, and you can see the list at the bottom of this week's newsletter.
If you have not yet seen the Town Warrant Articles for this year, you can preview them here.
This year's Town Meeting will be one for the record books soon enough. Make sure your voice, and your opinion, is heard by attending the Town Meeting.

Let's wish them well!

 | Nelson Community Forum Update
| Karen Tolman
The Final Report for The Nelson Community Forum, which was held last September 17 and 18, 2010, is ready for you to download at www.movinginstep.org. A hard copy is also available at both the Town Offices and the Library (along with a flash drive from which you can download a copy onto your laptop). Please take a look at it and read about the actual thoughts and ideas that were expressed during the course of the Forum. Review the steps that were taken to move the resultant action plans forward to see if you might be able to contribute to one of the committees. And, then, send a big round of applause to Candyce Fulford who transferred the many flip charts that we filled up with our words of wisdom into this document. It's an impressive report that demonstrates, not only the thoughtfulness and insightfulness that the folks of Nelson have in caring for our town, its future and its people, but that the folks of Nelson are a pretty nifty group of people who came together to work together in a most civil and congenial manner. A lot of very meaningful work was accomplished and will continue to be accomplished as a result of this Forum. Enjoy. It's a good read!
Download the Final Report in pdf form >>> Download the Final Report in doc form >>>
Both copies of the document are slightly over 2MB in size, so allow time for downloading.
