Tonight!  Nelson School's Winter Concert
Join us this evening at the Nelson Town Hall at 6:30 pm.  Help us celebrate this year's theme of ecology as the students of the Nelson Elementary School sing and dance into your hearts.

This evening's performers will present an original arrangement of "It's Raining" on voice, recorder other instruments; a "three-star" (Elvis times three, that is!) number on the water cycle; a Native American round about the beauty which surrounds us; French gardening songs; and a wide variety of other numbers that highlight student accomplishments on voice and instrument.

Benefit Pot Luck & Coffee House
Sunday, February 13th @ 6:00 pm
Nelson Town Hall

A large number of local musicians will be performing, and rumor has it that there will be an abundance of joke telling as well, as we come together to help our friend and neighbor, Mary Desrosiers.

Mary DesRosiers, dance caller, radio announcer, emcee, and vibrant member of our folk community, lost her home, pets, and all of her possessions in a house fire on November 30th. You can read details about this at marydesrosiers.com.

While this event is intended as a small fundraiser (a donation of $5 is requested), it is largely a time to come together, have some fun, and show support for Mary and her family.

Performers who will be appearing (so far):
Allison Aldrich and Hunt Smith
Alouette Iselin
Kim Wallach
Julie Snow
Gordon Peery
Tim Mowry & Steve Jones
Deke Conklin and Max Nunnemaker
2nd Saturday Contra Dance
The Monadnock Folklore Society presents the Nelson Second Saturday Contra Dance on February 12th, featuring Adina Gordon calling with Jessie Gagne-Hall, Mary Cay Brass, and Roger Kahle.

The world's most well-traveled caller, Adina Gordon, returns to the Nelson Town Hall for an evening of contra dances.
Dancing begins at 8:00 PM, with a short workshop beforehand. Beginners and singles are welcome and all dances are taught throughout the evening.
Admission is $8 or $6 for students and seniors.

Come join us for a distinctively Nelson tradition.

School Board Candidates
After years of hard work and dedication to our Nelson school, Betsy Street will not be seeking re-election to the School Board for the year 2011-2012.

We applaud Betsy for all she has done and welcome the candidacy of both Allison Aldrich and Anna Philbrick who have filed to fill the one position left vacant.
