The Cattery Newsletter - The Scratching PostMarch 2011
Dear Friends,

I'm happy to report adoptions are still going very well!  We are still averaging over 1 per day!   We are happy for all of the kitties getting new homes and the increase of kitties we are able to save!  As you know, saving more cats means our expenses increase as well!  What you might not know is that each cat that comes through our doors costs us an average of $300 for Veterinary care, food and overhead expenses involved in running the shelter.  I know a fun way you can help us out with these increasing expenses!  Come to the 4th Annual Meow Mixer on April 7th!  All funds raised benefit the fantastic felines of The Cattery!  More info is posted below!
I'm also excited to tell you that we have expanded our adoptions to the Petsmart in Victoria!  Read more about this exciting news below!
As always, thank you all for your support!  We would not be able to continue our mission and save all of these wonderful cats if it weren't for our generous donors!

Sincerely,

Samantha Person
Shelter Director

Adoptions in Victoria

We are happy to announce that we have expanded our services to Victoria!  The regional manager for Petsmart invited us to facilitate adoptions in their Victoria store and we have accepted.  Because of the distance, we have also partnered with VCA Victoria Animal Hospital to take care of our cats if they become ill while they are awaiting adoption.  In addition, we have partnered with Victoria Animal Control to save kitty lives from their shelter that will then be available for adoption at the Victoria Petsmart.  I

Volunteer Spotlight

Leslie Bonham

Leslie had been patiently waiting to volunteer at The Cattery for quite some time before she was old enough (youth volunteers must be 12 to volunteer without a parent).  Since that day arrived she has volunteered almost every weekend and on school breaks and is a very hard worker indeed!  It's sometimes hard to get her to actually sit down long enough to play with the kitties - she wants to help us with various shelter jobs the entire time she is volunteering!  We are amazed at her dedication and love for the cats - she even donated her report card money to the kitties!

Thank you Leslie!  Your hard work and dedication to the cats is very much admired!

Do you want to volunteer like Leslie?  Read more about volunteering HERE.

About The Cattery

The Cattery offers an alternative to traditional animal shelters in providing a no-kill, cage-free haven for homeless, abused, or abandoned cats.  From there, we seek permanent, loving homes for these animals.  In addition, our organization promotes public awareness regarding the value of animals and their welfare, the dangers of pet overpopulation, and the benefit of quality human-animal companionship.
