The Cattery Newsletter - The Scratching Post
January 2011
Dear Friends,

Everyone makes changes at the beginning of a year and we are no different here at The Cattery.  Today we launch our new website that we have been working on for several months.  Please visit our new site (same address: thecatterycc.org), peruse for awhile and let us know what you think.  It could take up to 72 hours for all servers to refresh to the new website, so keep checking back until you see the website below!  We hope you will enjoy it!
In addition, we are excited to say that we had 31 adoptions in January.  That's 1 for every day of the month!  We hope we can continue this trend for the rest of the year.  We're also excited to be planning our 4th Annual Meow Mixer, this year with a 'Meowdi Gras' theme!  Fun stuff!
Until next month....

Sincerely,

Samantha Person
Shelter Director

Volunteer Spotlight

Sue Dost

Sue doesn't have a lot of time to volunteer at the shelter, but she is still one of our most treasured volunteers!  She is our one and only full time foster mom!  Many kittens have passed through her doors and are better for it!  While we try to only take kittens that are 6-8 weeks old so they are ready for adoption in just a couple of weeks, sometimes we end up with moms with babies or very young babies.  Growing up in our quarantine building stuck in a cage is not a good childhood!  Sue provides the moms and babies with room to run around and play and lots of human attention and love which is so very important to young kittens to make them adoptable!
In addition, all volunteers and staff members should be eternally grateful to Sue - because of her we have a dishwasher and don't have to hand wash dishes anymore!!

You too can be a volunteer!  We are always in need of foster parents - and what could be more fun that watching a litter of kittens grow up?  Please see our website for more details!

About The Cattery

The Cattery offers an alternative to traditional animal shelters in providing a no-kill, cage-free haven for homeless, abused, or abandoned cats.  From there, we seek permanent, loving homes for these animals.  In addition, our organization promotes public awareness regarding the value of animals and their welfare, the dangers of pet overpopulation, and the benefit of quality human-animal companionship.
