On a warm June evening this summer, over 150 Bolognesi and their guests sat down together in the vaulted, gothic refectory of New York's General Theological Seminary to celebrate the Bologna Center and their ties to each other.
Alumni from the classes of 1960 to 2010 came from across the country and across the Atlantic to show their support. The program started with an academic panel featuring Professors Erik Jones, Tom Row and Karim Mezran. This year's topic was "Islam in Europe" and the speakers drew a lively response of questions from the audience.
The reception followed the panel and guests took the
opportunity to catch up with old friends, classmates and members of the faculty and
administration.
All too quickly, the call for dinner came and guests made their way into the dramatic dining room pausing only to examine the many silent auction items donated by alumni and friends of the Center.
The conversations continued over dinner of course and maybe the hardest part of the evening was convincing everyone to leave after 10pm so the staff could clean up!
A very special thanks to the people who made this event such a success: Daniela and Ajay Kaisth, Alison von Kemplerer, Chuck Park, Anne Erni, Martin Fraenkel, Kathleen Tesluk, Meera Shankar, Gabriella Chiappini, Clarissa Ronchi, Francesca Torchi, Professors Eric Jones, Tom Row and Karim Mezran, Director Ken Keller, Odette Boya Resta, Childe Costa, Spencer Abruzzese, Ivan Adames and all the members of the 2010 Amici Steering Committee.
