Greetings!

Today's KW Record has a great article about our Water Levels/Water Conservation this year.  They are asking for municipalities, golf courses and other water users to cut their consumption by 10%.  To read the entire article:  Click Here

We encourage all home owners and businesses within our Region to do the same.  There are a few simple solutions that everyone can take advantage of this spring.

To avoid excess watering on your gardens now and in the summer months, mulch ASAP (see below).

To get your grass to grow healthier, with a stronger root system, dethatch the lawn and fertilize. (also, see below).

With everyone working together within our Region we can all help to conserve our precious Water Source.

100% Native Shredded Pine

At TNT, we have 2 different types of mulch available this year. A shredded Native Pine and a shredded Native Black Pine. Both mulches are 100% pine, no 'reclaimed' (hardwood, particle board or construction waste shredding) or 'chunky' bark pieces.

Advantages of Mulching:

  • Protects the soil form erosion
  • Reduces compaction from the impact of heavy rains
  • Conserves moisture, reducing the need for frequent watering
  • Maintains a more even soil temperature
  • Prevents weed growth
  • Keeps feet clean, allowing access to garden even when damp
  • Provides a "finished" look to the garden & excellent curb appeal

Our Dethatcher in Action

Dethatching your Lawn

Dethatching is essential first thing in the spring in order to help the grass grow.  With proper dethatching, the thatch layer is removed allowing for sun and rain/water to have access to the soil and the grass.  We use a dethatching machine in open areas where we have access and in the tight areas, we rake by hand.

Dethatching does not have to be a back breaking experience.
We are here to help.
Our staff can do the work while you reap all the benefits.

Below is a video from Southwest Yard & Garden that is airing on Youtube.  This company has done an excellent job explaining the benefits of dethatching and showing how our machine works (we unfortunately do not have the bagging system they use).

Organic Fertilizing

At TNT we strive to be environmental stewards. Our Organic Fertilizing Program was created with Premium, Environmentally Friendly products that are manufactured locally.

When you fertilize the grass, you add needed nutrients to make the root system thrive.  A stronger root system will help to crowd out weeds.  When the root system is strong it also grows deeper into the earth....thus, allowing for less watering.  The trick to keeping your root system strong is the combination of fertilizer applications with regular grass cutting (keeping in mind to cut your grass at 3 inches).

BASE PROGRAM: consists of 4 Fertilizer applications (early spring, early summer, late summer and fall).

PREMIUM PROGRAM: consists of 4 Fertilizer applications, with a combination of Core Aeration, 'Easy Flo Compost', and over-seeding in late spring.

Our programs are flexible to take into account the turf health & our ever changing weather patterns.
