RECognized Student of the Month
We are pleased to announce that Irving sixth-grader Cassidy W. has been selected as our November RECognized Student of the Month. After school she participates in "Girlz Club" (Girl Scouts), "Mind Masters," and is frequently found doing homework with friends in the Homework Room. Cassidy also spent the summer at Irving Rec. Center as a participant in our Camp Challenge day camp for middle school students. She is always safe, respectful, and responsible. Congratulations, Cassidy! |

Urban Prairie
Youth Environmental Leadership Program
Lincoln Parks and Recreation's Urban Prairie program is designed for middle school youth who are interested in exploring the outdoors.
Participants:
- stay active with outdoor recreation opportunities like rock climbing, swimming, hiking, canoeing, camping, cross-country skiing, archery, and ice skating;
- learn about Nebraska ecosystems;
- participate in weekly environmental education activities; and,
- develop leadership skills through regularly scheduled community service activities.
Urban Prairie meets at the yellow house in Antelope Park (1660 Memorial Drive; formerly Child Guidance Center) Tuesdays and Thursdays after school until 6:00 p.m. and the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Transportation is provided after school!
We are still recruiting students for the session that begins Saturday, Nov. 5 and runs through Dec. 20. Download a registration form here. Call our Playgrounds Office at 402-441-7952 for details! |
