Student Advisory Board
At Irving Rec. Center we understand that middle school students benefit from having useful roles in the community, knowing they are valued, and learning to work together to plan and make choices for the benefit of others. Congratulations to the following students who were recently named to the Irving Recreation Center Student Advisory Board (SAB): Julia E., TeriAnn I., Jessie P., Shannon S., and Kaitlin S.
These students will host general meetings for all students and plan projects to help make sure the rec. center remains a great place for everybody! |

After School Girl Scouts
Irving Recreation Center works closely with Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska Council's outreach program to offer enriching opportunities for girls during out-of-school time. This program is free to girls who have paid the after school drop-in fee ($1.50/day) and open to all girls every Friday after school from 3:15-4:30 p.m.
Everything girls do--whether it's performing science experiments, creating art projects, cooking simple meals, or learning to protect the planet's water supply--is aimed at giving them the benefits of the Girl Scout "Keys to Leadership": Discover, Connect, Take Action.
Here's how it works:
-Each girl DISCOVERS her special skills and talents, finds the confidence to set challenging goals for herself and strives to live by her values. This includes being proud of where she came from as well as where she's going.
-Each girl CONNECTS with others, which means she learns how to team up, solve conflicts, and have healthy relationships. These skills help her in school right now and prepare her for any career she chooses in the future.
-Each girl TAKES ACTION and makes the world a better place, learning a lot about her community and the world along the way.
We hope to see your daughter after school on Fridays! |
