"It's the most wonderful time of the year!" This is what the song says, and I must agree. There are three main reasons that make this the most wonderful time of the year for me.
The wonder- this time of year is full of fascination, magic, belief, anticipation, and hopes. Having three daughters under the age of nine and the wonder of the season permeates my home. This wonder is also easily found everywhere if you simply take the time to look for it. Take a moment to put aside all that you have to do and all that is swirling around in your head. Take in a deep breath, and observe all the wonderful and amazing things around you and in your life.
Kindness- Kindness and compassion always seems more prevalent. People are eager to offer a "Happy Holidays!" at the check out line, hold the door, or offer friendly a smile. Embrace it, relish in it all, and most importantly, give it back too.
Natural introspection- The year is coming to and end and a brand new one is beginning. This is the time to reflect on the previous year. Did you live it well? What where the highs and lows? What worked out great and what was a challenge? As you look to the new year, ask your self what your intentions are for 2012. Who do want to be next year? What would you like to change? What would you like to keep the same? What are you goals? I encourage you ponder these questions and even write down your answers.
There are of course many other reasons that may make this the most wonderful time of the year. What is it that you love about the holiday season? What else could you be doing now to make this the most wonderful time of the year?
I wish you all have very merry holidays and a happy new year!
Sincerely,
