Greetings!

Happy October! We started this month off with a bang at the Over The Edge event on the second. Thanks to all of your generous donations, we exceeded our fundraising goal and sent Quinn Takei rappelling down the side of the Wachovia tower downtown. Check out our FLICKR page to see the photos. We cannot thank you enough for your support of the Special Olympics, NC. It is a truly wonderful cause, and we look forward to furthering our contribution next fall!

It is shaping up to be a beautiful fall this year. Unfortunately, this season is known not just for its beauty, but also for the seasonal allergies it brings. There are several things you can do today to help soothe your seasonal allergies, and even prevent them from occurring in the first place. Check out our BLOG for the full article on ways to be proactive about your health, and the importance of strengthening your WEI QI to avoid seasonal allergy symptoms.

The fall is also a time of rejuvenation, a time to relax and recover from the excitement of summer. Our article below explains one simple ritual you can add to your daily routine that will help you relax and renew your body and mind.

Be sure to check out the links on the right to learn about the recent developments with the FDA and Chinese Herbal Medicine, as well as the events section below to see what we've got going on this month. Thanks for reading, we hope to see you soon!

Green Tea Reduces Stress

It may seem rather self-evident that a hot cup of tea would be the perfect de-stresser. Now, a group of researchers from the University of Tokyo has tested the idea that tea - specifically green tea - reduces stress, and found some surprising results.

The researchers found an inverse association between green tea consumption and psychological distress. In other words, people who drank five or more cups of green tea per day were at lower risk of psychological distress than those who consumed one cup or less per day.

So the next time you are feeling yourself getting frazzled, brew up some green tea. It will do you a world of good.
