~State Superintendent Tom Torlakson and

Southern California elected officials ring in

new office grand opening~

 

The State's largest grant writing firm officially opened an office in the City of Montebello on May 2, 2012.  State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson cut the ribbon, to inaugurate the opening of the new office.  Superintendent Torlakson was joined by various leaders and dignitaries from throughout Los Angeles County.  A reception was held and attended by over 50 leaders from across the region including, several local elected city councilmembers, mayors, school board members and others from a variety of cities and school districts in the area.  Montebello Councilmen Jack Hadjinlian and Bill Molinari, and Pico Rivera Mayor Bob Archuletta and Councilman Gustavo Camacho each spoke at the event.  The offices of Congresswoman Napolitano and Senator Calderon presented certificates of congratulations to California Consulting.  The event included food, beverages, and a program.

California Consulting's Southern California Office is officially open!

 

California Consulting has experienced a major expansion over the last six months that includes signing contracts with 15 cities and school districts in Los Angeles County. The opening of the new office included the announcement of the Southern California team for the firm that includes five experienced and highly regarded professionals who will manage and coordinate the company's efforts in the Southern California region as follows:  

 

Longtime local L.A. area leader in education Hector Chacon will serve as the Regional Consultant overseeing operations for the firm in the Southern California area. Chacon is a 19 year school member for the Montebello Unified School District, one of the State's largest school districts. 

   

Alice Luck

Project Manager

Ms. Luck serves as a full time grant writer and project manager for California Consulting. Alice brings with her a wealth of experience having written grants for several local L.A. area non-profits and other organizations. Alice earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from U.C. Santa Barbara and her Master of Public Affairs from the Indiana University, School of Public and Environmental Affairs.  Alice graduated from the Essentials of Grant Writing offered through the UCLA Extension program.

 

Eduardo Hernandez

Project Manager

Eduardo has had a 15-year career in local government, at the city and county level, and is a grant writer with extensive experience working with federal, state, and private foundation grants.  His professional experience has provided him with a unique insight and understanding of working with public officials and all levels of public administration, as well as a comprehensive understanding of the internal processes and functions of local government. He served 5 years working for the L.A. County Community Development Commission and the last 10 years as a staff member for the City of Anaheim Redevelopment Agency. Mr. Hernandez received his Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies from Loyola Marymount University, and completed a dual degree program at the University of Southern California to achieve his Master of Public Administration and Master of Planning degrees.

 

 David Marquez

Project Manager

Mr. Marquez is an appointee of Mayor Villaraigosa to the City of L.A. East Area Planning Commission.  He is a grant writer with extensive experience working with federal, state, and private foundation grants.  He was the Chief Deputy for L.A. City Councilman Mike Hernandez and he has written many grants dealing with everything from at risk youth to gang violence prevention to education. He graduated from the University of La Verne with a Bachelor of Arts in History and International Studies.

  

Jennifer Carpenter

Project Manager
Jennifer Carpenter has been in education for 17 years. During this time she has been a teacher, counselor, and part of the administrative team. She has written a variety of grants, with expertise in dropout prevention as well as service as a reader for the department of education for 16 years. Her area of focus over the past 17 years has been Drop-Out Prevention, Early Intervention, and Student Success. Jennifer has served as a CDE grant reader for 16 years.
She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Brigham Young University and her Master of Arts from Azusa Pacific University. Jennifer also has a Multiple Subject Credential and an Administrator Tier 1 Credential.
