LOBBYING UPDATE 

 

Trip to Sacramento:   California Consulting has organized a trip to the State Capitol for Kern COG. The trip will be on Jan. 23 and 24 and will include meetings with Senior level leaders at CTC, Cal-TRANS, ARB, and other key state agencies. As well, we will be meeting with State Legislators and legislative staff. Kern COG and California Consulting have developed a strategy and objectives for these meetings to advance our issues. On the way to Sacramento we will be meeting with Senator Boxer's Office.

 

Meetings in Sacramento:  Steve has continued his regular meetings with Legislators, Legislative Staff, and key State Agencies regarding various topics during the month of January.

 

RDA: California Consulting has been working aggressively on the RDA issue. We recently met with Senator Rubio in Sacramento personally regarding this issue and others and are coordinating with the League of Cities and CRA on this key issue.

 

Enterprise Zones:  We have been working as part of the EZ coalition to preserve EZ funding. Last year California Consulting helped lead the effort to keep EZ funding alive and well.  We are continuing our efforts legislatively this year. California Consulting Senior Director Liz Gomez testified at the HCD EZ hearing in support of EZ funding in Tulare on Thursday, January 26.  Liz spoke about the importance of Enterprise Zones to California cities and the economic boost that this important tool provides for cities across the State.

CONTINUING EDUCATION FOR

CALIFORNIA CONSULTING GRANT WRITERS

 

 

 

As part of our efforts to continue to develop and submit the highest quality and most competitive grant applications for our clients, California Consulting Project Managers Danielle Sotelo and Ellen Mata will be attending a 4-week long advanced professional development grant writing course.  The goal of the course is to raise the overall "funding worthiness" of grant applications submitted by California Consulting's grant writing team on behalf of our clients.  Upon completion of the course, the knowledge gathered by both Danielle and Ellen will be shared with our entire grant writing staff.  Thank you to both Ellen and Danielle for attending this excellent course. 

 

 

AMY CHRISTIANSON JOINS CALIFORNIA CONSULTING AS

SENIOR GRANT WRITING CONSULTANT FOR EDUCATION

 

 

 

Amy joined California Consulting, LLC in December 2011 as a Senior Consultant responsible for education grants. Amy brings with her 15+ years of grant writing experience as a professional grant writer. She has served as the grant writer for the Butte County Office of Education and the Chico Unified School District among other public entities.  She specializes in federal, state, and private foundation grants for educational entities. Amy has written 10 Healthy Start applications and had 8 funded for a total of $2.4 million in awards. She also wrote a Healthy Outreach grant for $300,000 that was funded and a grant to fund a dental van for $300,000 that was funded. As well, Amy has written 15 BASNLP/ASES applications, of which 13 were funded for a total of $12 million in awards during her career.  She has experience with Carol M. White PEP grants, Community College Connections grants, Early Childhood Grant for Pre-schools, and many others.  She has served as a Grant Reviewer for the California Department of Education for the highly competitive 21st Century Community Learning Center grant; during her career she has written six 21st Century applications, 4 of which were funded totaling $6 million.  Amy's expertise in the education arena adds to California Consulting's depth and competency in the education grant writing area.
