CALIFORNIA CONSULTING HOSTS EDUCATION ROUNDTABLE WITH STATE SUPERINTENDENT
On Wednesday Oct. 12, 2011 California Consulting, LLC hosted a small private dinner/education roundtable featuring State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson in Fresno. The event was attended by approximately 20 special invited guests including school district leaders from Kings Canyon Unified, Dinuba Unified, Westside Elementary, Clovis Unified, Coalinga-Huron Unified, Lindsay Unified, Mayor Fast of Reedley and others. Leaders from the private sector joined the event including Waste Management, Batth Farms, and Granville Homes among others. In addition to hearing an update on a potential 2012 education bond that Mr. Torlakson is crafting, guests also heard a Capitol Update from Assemblyman Henry T. Perea and the latest news about transportation from California Transportation Commission Commissioner Darius Assemi. The State is very fortunate to have articulate and stellar leaders like Tom Torlakson, Henry T. Perea, and Darius Asssemi. We thank these key leaders for joining Valley Superintendents for an informative evening.

CALIFORNIA CONSULTING HIGHLIGHTS EDUCATION TASK FORCE MEETING IN LOS ANGELES COUNTY | | |
California Consulting Owner Steve Samuelian presented a briefing on "Available Funding for Schools" at the quarterly Education Task Force meeting of the San Gabriel Valley Civic Alliance in October. The meeting was attended by approximately 45 Superintendents, CBO's, and school board members from throughout Los Angeles County and held in Whittier. Samuelian was introduced by San Gabriel Valley Civic Alliance Chairman Ed Rendon who said, "We are very pleased to be working closely with the State's most effective grant writing company in California Consulting." Samuelian spoke about the many federal, state, and private foundation funding opportunities available for school districts. "We are excited about the opportunity to work with California Consulting," concluded Rendon.

STAFF SPOTLIGHT: ELLEN MATA | |

Ellen Mata is a Project Manager at California Consulting. Ellen has over 20 years experience working with government agencies, non-profit organizations, for-profit businesses and consulting firms to create quality grants and proposals.
Ellen's most recent experience includes working as a Grant Writer for the Fresno Regional Workforce Investment Board. In that capacity, Ellen was responsible for grant research and preparation. She wrote several State and Federal grants during her time there. Ellen also served as Development Manager, Grants and Sponsorships, with the Fresno Metropolitan Museum of Art & Science. In that role, Ellen was responsible for writing the Museum's grants and grant reports, developing sponsorships, cultivating donor relationships, managing the Museum's business membership program and administering the REVEAS ASK Science mini-grant program.
Ellen graduated from Kingsburg High School and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of California, Santa Barbara. She lives in Fresno with her husband, Daniel, and their children.
