Repression in Libya
Over the last few days, hundreds of protesters have reportedly been killed in Libya in the midst of large scale anti-government protests. Libyan leader Muhammad al-Gaddafi and his government appear to be prepared to kill an unlimited number of people to stay in power. The international community should act now to put a stop to the bloodshed. Call on US government officials to play a leadership role at the United Nations to ensure that it imposes a total arms embargo on Libya and sends a mission there immediately to investigate the violence.

Community Outreach #2
A HAPA Aloha Orange County
The internationally acclaimed, contemporary Hawaiian music group returns to the Barclay.
The word hapa ("part") itself describes not only the blending of the backgrounds of the men who make up the group, but also defines the music that continues to attract so much success. Part traditional, part contemporary, part musical genius, part stunning vocals...these parts blend together to symbolize the cohesiveness of the music of HAPA. The evening features Barry Flanagan (lead guitar/vocals) and Ron Kuala'au (singer/songwriter) of HAPA with renowned Hawai'ian chanter Charles Kau'pu and special guest artist James "Hutch" Hutchinson.

Dress Code
- We have a dress code because we believe it's good for students, families, and school culture
- For example, students are protected from inappropriate words, images, or ideas while parents are relieved from buying expensive "designer labels"
- Schoolwide culture is also strengthened when we unite around common values
- But, we have to follow-through with commitments--at the administrative, teacher, parent, and student levels
- Some of us are doing a very admirable job
- Many of us, however, need to step up
- All staff will be expected to enforce the dress code with renewed commitment beginning Monday
- We're writing to you ahead of time to ask for your help
- Please:
- Print a copy of the dress code and place it in a prominent place in your home
- Review it with your child several times this weekend
- Then, ensure follow-through occurs each morning before drop-off
- In the event of a violation, a clean "loaner" item will be provided for the day
- Please support these efforts if you are notified
- Once again, thank you for your support
- Trust is built when we follow through with one another
- It is broken when we don't honor agreements
- The school staff recognizes we really need to get better
- We ask that you re-commit, too, so the students know we are on the same page
- THANKS
