Good Things Are Happening!
November 15, 2010

Dear Journey School Friends and Families,

Welcome back! We hope you enjoyed the long, holiday weekend!

Our Scholastic Book Fair is this week! Look for details below to enable your child to experience the fun of selecting and purchasing her or his own book.

Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate with us at the Harvest Faire. It was also wonderful to see the children shine their inner lights so brightly at our annual Lantern Walk. Thank you to the many parents and staff who made these two special festivals possible. Remember, such special events bind us together as a community and allow us to celebrate what we hold to be so important. The smiles on our children's faces below say it all!

Onwards and Upwards!

Scrip Fundraising Has Arrived!
A new and exciting fundraising program called 'scrip' is available at Journey School. Now you can raise money without buying unwanted items, without selling door-to-door, and with no extra cost to you. Supporting our School has never been easier!

How It Works
Scrip refers to gift certificates or gift cards. Our school is able to purchase gift cards from hundreds of retailers nationwide at a discount, which you can then buy at face value. The difference is our profit. These are the same gift cards that you would purchase if you went to the retailer directly. By purchasing these gift cards before you shop for your everyday items - like groceries, gas, clothes, restaurants - we raise money, without you having to spend a penny extra. It's just that simple.

Click here to download the list of participating scrip merchants.

How to Participate
Simply download and return the attached cover sheet and order form with your check to the office by Wednesday, November 17. You will receive a new order form each week. We encourage you to take advantage of the wonderful benefits offered by this ongoing fundraiser.

If you have questions, please contact Stephanie Ciulla at 949-212-6670. Help us exceed our goals, and thank you in advance for your support!

Charity Golf Tournament
Sunny May from 2nd Grade and her parents Anja and Ron would like to invite Journey School to be a part of the 4th annual Liam's Memorial Golf Tournament on Wednesday, November 17.

In memory of their son Liam, who was born with Down syndrome, the May's are raising funds for a program that supports children with special needs. The Laguna Beach Assistance League, a 501c3 nonprofit organization, offers a cost-free Early Intervention Program (EIP) helping parents and special needs children from ages 6 weeks to 1 year. This program forever changes lives when needed most!

All proceeds from LMGT go to charity. The tournament is a scramble format: The object is to have fun! All skill levels are welcome and first time tournament players are encouraged to participate. The Aliso Creek Golf Course is a gem that promises to offer a wonderful experience!

In addition, the amazing ladies at LBAL have put together a prize loaded raffle and silent auction. Please come and join us! If not this year, then next!

Please feel free to call Anja May with any questions at 949-463-0895
