The Ethiopian Family Fund is a nonprofit organization committed to the development of sustainable education and healthcare programs that positively impact children and their families while respecting the cultural integrity of communities in Ethiopia.

EFF Action Plan
* Initiate and implement grassroots educational and healthcare programs
* Partner with other established groups with a history of success
* Fund programs where financial issues are the main barriers for positive change
* Promote awareness, selflessness and giving in our children through educational and charitable efforts on behalf of those less fortunate.

Here's an update on the good things happening in the garden . . .

Green Heart Garden

Our Wattle Fence Project is off to
an amazing start! All classes are involved in our weaving project. Details coming soon.

Native Garden Enhancement
Beautiful changes are happening in our Native Garden. Join Nicole Fazzah and her team on Tuesday mornings.

The goal of our garden and ecology projects is to create outdoor living classrooms for learning and reflection, and in doing so, build community among our students, parents, teachers, and larger community.

Our Garden projects include:
  • Garden Design and Edible Food Group
  • Native Garden
  • Recycling/Composting
  • Fundraising and Education Group

School Portraits
School individual portraits and class group pictures will be taken the week of October 18th during the games classes so that there will be no interruption during the Main Lesson.

NO PAYMENT IS DUE AT THE TIME THE PICTURES ARE TAKEN! Proofs and an order form will be sent home with each student.

The Kindergarten team is establishing the best days and times for each of the teachers during the week of October 18-22. There will be a group picture taken with each of the teachers and the individual photos will be taken after morning circle during outdoor play, 9:00-10:30. (For Kindergarten, a complete schedule will be established and sent home soon.)

Join Us for Lunch on Mondays


Enjoy a few more minutes on Monday morning by leaving lunch to us! Order Sharky's and provide your children a healthy, hot lunch, while helping the 8th grade raise funds for their end of the year trip. Please turn in your order no later than drop off on Monday AM for lunchtime delivery!  


Our first week was a huge success and we would LOVE to have you join us! Let the eighth grade help you "Make It Easy Monday" by ordering a delicious, nutritious lunch provided by Sharkey's for the low cost of  $4.50-$5.50 per lunch. This program will be on-going and last throughout the year. It is our goal to provide healthy choices and a low waste delivery, and we are excited to do so with Sharky's.

 

Please order individually per child and total your order weekly and at the total payment line below. Checks can be written to cover the entire family order, just place in an envelope together with all orders. Kindy parents, you may order for yourself and your child on the same form!

PLEASE NOTE: This is the primary fundraiser for the 8th grade class to provide for an end of year trip that closes out their wonderful years at Journey School and we ask for your cooperation in always prepaying, as there will be no on site cash sales. Please do not ask for refunds or exceptions should your child be absent on the designated lunch dates. Thanks for your support and cooperation.

GUITAR pilot program with Billy Alexander

WHEN? Tuesday/Thursday afternoons from 3 to 4pm.
WHERE? In the music room
WHO? Five students per class only

WHAT
? The focus of the program is to advance guitar playing skills in rock, pop, blues, etc. and develop songwriting skills.

Due to high demand, in addition to our Tuesday class, the after school guitar program will also be offered on Thursdays from 3 to 4. Space is limited to only 5 students on a first come, first served basis. Tuition is $80 per month.
