After-Care
|
Many people worked hard last year to make great after school options available. We're excited about building on this positive momentum in 2010-11! In the coming days, you will learn about gardening, art, music, drama, and other after school classes.

Community Service
|
JFK once said, "The greatest exercise for the human heart is reaching down and helping someone else up!" Your children will have many opportunities to serve others in 2010-11. Feeding the homeless, singing to the elderly, doing chores for a neighbor, and cleaning-up parks will become routine activities. More information about these heart-based services are on the way.

Communication: Good communication makes for great partnerships. That's why we're so committed to getting even better in this priority area. For example: - Beginning this week, this newsletter will be published every Friday to keep you "in the loop" and to end last minute notices. Please look for the next Good Things are Happening in your Friday morning inbox.
- An automated phone system is in the works.
- We're "beefing-up" office systems so someone is sure to "pick up" when you need that personal touch.
- The website continues to improve.
- You can check out important dates on our electronic calendar.
- Our revised Parent Handbook and cutting-edge Charter Document are on-line for your viewing.
- Please check them out before the community meeting.

Community Meeting--9/1/10
As agreed at the end-of-year community meeting in June, Journey School stabilized in many ways last year due to our collective efforts and strong will. And, the opportunities to achieve real strength in 2010-11 are boundless--so long as we all paddle together towards the same destination!
That is why we need you to mark your calendars right now for Wednesday, September 1st from 6:00-7:30! We need the entire school community of adults to come together to launch the new year with lokahi--Hawaiian for togetherness and purpose.
No less than 95% of our families should be present to talk about next year's unifying theme, goals, finances, and the myriad of ways we are going to step-up together so the students experience a truly magical year.
On campus childcare for children 3-years and older is available during the community meeting from 6:00 - 7:30 PM for $5 donation per child (cash is preferred). Reservations required in advance due to limited space. For questions contact organizer, Bettina Spretke at matashis@cox.net
NOTE: For those few families who absolutely cannot attend, a follow-up meeting has been scheduled at 5:00 PM on September 15th. Those few families who will not be present on the 1st should e-mail shoon@journeyschool.net so we can anticipate your absence.

Enrollment
Enrollment demand remains high! With school starting in a few weeks, and in order to ensure a smooth start, we can no longer hold a space for anyone who has not submitted the entire enrollment packet. E-mail julie@journeyschool.net with questions asap. Please don't regret delaying!
