Greetings!   
For those of you who this is your first volunteer e-mail from us, welcome.  We look forward having you join us in "inspiring exploration, appreciation, and conservation of our natural world."

Summer is here and we are busy at the Boardman River Nature Center and in the field.  We need your help!
 
Please take a look at the upcoming volunteer opportunities below.  There is a brief description, the dates/times needed and the person to contact if interested.  Space is limited so please RSVP with the contact person listed.
Education Programs
We are in need of volunteers to help us teach some education programs this summer.  Don't feel like you know enough to teach?  Don't worry!  It's fun, easy and we will train you.  Each program has a variety of group stations.  You would lead one of these stations.  Several small groups of students will visit your station for the same lesson.

ISEA Music Festival & Bay Day  
 Come help run children activities, be Ollie the Otter, or greet visitors to the GTCD information booth at the Inland Seas Education Association Music Festival in Suttons Bay and the Watershed Center's Bay Day in Traverse City.  We need two volunteers per event.  Click here for details on the ISEA Music Festival.  Volunteers will be accompanied by a GTCD staff member and no experience is necessary.

Natural Education Reserve Advisory Committee Member   
We are taking applications for individuals willing to serve on the advisory committee for the Natural Education Reserve.  The role of the advisory committee is to give recommendations to Grand Traverse County on various management issues.  The GTCD manages the 505-acre Natural Education Reserve for Grand Traverse County & Garfield Township.  Applicants must be a resident of Grand Traverse County.  Applications are due August 20.  Click here for an application.

Invasive Species Workbees  
In order to protect the plant and animal diversity, we'll be holding volunteer work bees to remove species invading our area parklands.  Once a month volunteers will meet an an area parkland help battle these unwanted invaders! 
No experience necessary.   
 
Date/Time:
Sat, July 17:  Boardman River, just up from Brown Bridge Pond. Because of the location of the site, volunteers will get to float down the river!
Sat, Aug 21:  Kids Creek Park
Sat, Sept 18:  TBD
Each workbee will be 9a-1p

We are excited to be starting our 2010 Nature Day Camp programs, taking place each week from 9a - 12p.  Each week has a unique theme and is designed for a particular age group.  We are looking for volunteers to assist our GTCD staff for these programs.  You can sign up for a whole week or for select days.

Group Conservation Workbees 
We are looking for groups interested in volunteering on the 1st or 3rd Monday afternoon of the month.  The workbees will focus on general trail maintenance, planting vegetation, or invasive species removal. 
 No experience necessary
