Greetings!
For those of you who this is your first volunteer e-mail from us, welcome. We look forward having you join us in "inspiring exploration, appreciation, and conservation of our natural world."
We hope that all of you are staying dry! We seem to be getting our April showers a month late this year. Believe it or not, summer is right around the corner! We are looking forward to a busy season at the Nature Center and in the field and could use your help.
Please take a look at the upcoming volunteer opportunities below. There is a brief description, the dates/times needed and the person to contact if interested. Space is limited so please RSVP with the contact person listed. |

| Native Plant Sale
Our Annual Native Plant Sale is next weekend! We need help setting up & on the days of the sale. From native plant experts to truck unloaders, there is a variety of ways to get involved. (Plus you get invited to the Native Plant Pre-Sale!) Space is limited.
Some special knowledge
required for Native Plant experts.

| Education Volunteers Needed!
We are in need of additional education volunteers to help nurture the community's connection to nature! Spring has sprung and many area schools are planning their spring field trips to the Boardman River Nature Center. We are excited about the incredible response from area teachers & students, but we need your help!

Invasive Species Workbees
In order to protect the plant and animal diversity, we'll be holding volunteer work bees to remove species invading our area parklands. Once a month volunteers will meet an an area parkland help battle these unwanted invaders!
No experience necessary.
Date/Time: Sat, May 15: Hickory Meadows
Sat, June 19: Brown Bridge Quiet Area Bottom Lands
Sat, July 17: Boardman River, just up from Brown Bridge Pond (this one will require a nice float down the river)
Sat, Aug 21: TBD
Sat, Sept 18: TBD
Each workbee will be 9a-1p

| Native Plant Rescuers
Weekly every spring, a group of volunteers heads into the woods to rescue native plants that would otherwise be destroyed. This is a great way to learn more about our amazing native plants, meet new people and do your part for conservation. And if you cannot make it to one of the digs, we always need help finding new dig sites. Please contact us if you know of any land slated for development.
No experience necessary.
Every Fri, 8:30-11:30a (approx)

| Group Conservation Workbees
We are looking for groups interested in volunteering on the 1st or 3rd Monday afternoon of the month beginning in May. The workbees will focus on general trail maintenance, planting vegetation, or invasive species removal.
No experience necessary

Cont. every 1st & 3rd Monday of the month thru Sept

| Nature North Festival
Community members will be invited to the Boardman River Nature Center this summer to help celebrate conservation in Northern Michigan. We are in need of volunteers to help run activities/games, setup, tear down and hand out popcorn/punch.

Nature Center Docents Needed
 We have some openings for volunteers to help out at the front desk of the Boardman River Nature Center this spring! You will greet visitors, answer phones and help out with a variety of office tasks. Each shift is 3hrs long (10a-1p or 1-4p) and we will provide full training.

Tuesday mornings in June
Thursday afternoons in May 27 & June 10
