Land Management Services

March can offer some great ice fishing opportunities, but the fluctuating weather can also make the ice dangerously thin.  You can't judge the strength of ice just by its age, thickness, temperature or appearance. It is based on all these factors plus the depth of water under the ice, size of the water body, water chemistry and currents.  Remember that all of the "lakes" on the parklands the we manage are really impoundments on the Boardman River.  Ice can be especially dangerous where the river enters and exits the impoundments.  Have fun out there and enjoy our great resources, but do it safely.  Click here for instructions on how to make a simple lifesaving tool for less than five bucks.

Most of you are aware of the hard work of our farming neighbors to overcome hail, wind, drought, pests and low prices, just to put food on our tables. However, it is likely that few of you are familiar with the efforts they make to keep our environment and food healthy. The GTCD has been a partner with local growers for many years in working toward an even healthier environment and is furthering those efforts in the upcoming months with a series of workshops.  Read on

A Delicious way to Donate
Don't forget if you're looking for s sweet treat, you can stop by Firefly (downtown TC) to enjoy a delicious desert.  Firefly gives $1 to the GTCD for each desert sold... Yum!

The work of the GTCD would not be possible without your support. We depend on friends like you to help us ensure we are able to deliver vibrant programs now and into the future.  There are many opportunities to get involved with the GTCD by donating your "time, talent, and treasure!" Contact Rebecca Teahen (rteahen@gtcd.org) to learn more about ways to give to the GTCD. Thanks!
We hope that you learned a little more about us and found some useful information in this month's eNewsletter.  The busy field and event season will soon be upon us.  You will be able to take advantage of many fun events and workshops here at the Boardman River Nature Center and get outside to enjoy improvements to your parklands.  Stay tuned in the coming months!
