Dear Friends, Summer is a special time at Twin Cedars Youth & Family Services, Inc. Throughout the year our staff and community partners plan for summer camp programs at Camp Viola; which we have now managed since 1998. This year alone Camp Viola is anticipating serving more than 500 children through 12 different camp sessions. This summer, in collaboration with the Southern Crescent Area Agency on Aging, we recently hosted a Grandparents Raising Grandchildren camp. Our own Rosetta Fortune, who serves as the Twin Cedars' Parents as Teachers Coordinator, raised her grandson Corey. She assisted in fostering a new relationship between Southern Crescent AAA, Twin Cedars and Camp Viola to launch this new camp experience.
Corey was raised by his grandmother Rosetta. He is a recent high school graduate.
 | We are so thankful to all of the churches who partner with Camp Viola annually to provide an enriching experience for those children in our LaGrange community. Our children at the Bradfield Campus have been working with DASH's Paint the Town program while the girls at the Anne Elizabeth Shepherd Home have been volunteering at Magnolia Manor and Open Door Community Home. In Macon, the Extreme Ministries group has dedicated hundreds of hours of volunteer service to help with continued efforts to revitalize our Macon campus. I have recently returned from a twelve day trip to Ulyanovsk, Russia as a guest of Ulyanovsk State University. I look forward to sharing more details in our upcoming July edition. None of this would be possible without our dedicated volunteers and donors To all of you, we extend our heartfelt appreciation for your service and your contributions. If you are still interested in making a secure, tax deductible contribution simply visit our website to give on line. Together, we CAN make a difference. For the children, Mike |

| Bradfield Residents "Paint The Town" |
BEFORE |
In collaboration with DASH (Dependable Affordable Sustainable Housing) in LaGrange, Bradfield residents have been volunteering through the "Paint The Town" project. Twelve of the residents from Bradfield's Hudson Cottage volunteered for a total of 6 days to help revitalize a residential property in LaGrange. In addition to painting, residents assisted with basic lawn care. Nic Dunn, Hudson Cottage Shift Leader, commented, " We have been participating in the Paint the Town program for the last five years. I am so proud of the team work they exemplified to complete this project. They really made this house a home again." To show their appreciation DASH provided all volunteers with a goodie bag that included a DASH t-shirt, cup, and a Chick - Fil - A coupon.

We look forward to continued collaboration with DASH. |
| Anne Elizabeth Shepherd Home Residents attend Celebration of Excellence |
The Celebration of Excellence was established to celebrate the educational achievement of youth in Georgia's foster care system. Three residents from our own the Anne Elizabeth Shepherd Home were honored on June 9 at the special ceremony held in Atlanta at the Rialto Center. As a part of the three day event, our residents were able to participate in a Resource Fair that included vendors to help our transitioning youth with financial planning, resume writing, apartment searches, and financial aid for higher education. Residents identified closely with motivational speaker and well-known actress Victoria Rowell. Rowell, who played the popular Drucilla Barber Winters on the Young and the Restless, was surrendered to child services when she was only 16 days old. Rowell's memoir about her time spent in foster care was published in 2007. Lastly, our residents also received a $250 "Dress for Success" scholarship to help with their purchases for appropriate business attire for interviews. |
| Extreme Ministries visits Georgia Industrial Children's Home in Macon |
Extreme Ministries Work Week was held May 30th through June 5th. | Extreme Ministries, a Mobile Ministry group out of Cropwell, Alabama, brought their special brand of service ministry to GICH from May 30th through June 5th. Jeff Huey and Jason Jones, leaders for Extreme Ministries, coordinate mission trips for churches throughout the southeast and have been doing so for fifteen years. The mission group of approximately 35 folks (teenagers and adults) hit the ground running. The primary project was to complete a cinder block building that had been remained unfinished for several years. The group primed and painted the interior and installed tile in the bathrooms and showers as well as the toilets and sinks.
In addition, Extreme Ministries, installed ventilation fans and painted the ceilings in Anderson cottage, putting the final renovation elements in place for that cottage. The deck on Lions cottage needed serious rehab as did the two wheel chair ramps, one on Baldwin Cottage and the other on Mumford Hall. And, we now have five picnic tables under our pecan trees as well.
Jeff and Jason and Linda Finley, the GICH Program Director, have worked together for about three years. Linda said, "I've known these guys and worked with their group for years. I was so pleased

when they called in February and said they wanted to come over and see what they could do for us." This is the beginning of a great relationship. We are already planning our next "Extreme" experience. What a tremendous blessing for our campus. |
