What is Laughter Yoga?
Laughter Yoga is a unique exercise routine which combines unconditional laughter with yogic breathing. You do not need jokes, a sense of humor or comedy. It is a group exercise where you laugh with people!
The benefits of Laughter Yoga are many such as feeling relaxed and rejuvenated, improvement in personal and social life and developing the ability to laugh in the face of challenges to name a few.
Science has proved that the body cannot differentiate between simulated and real laughter but the physiological and psychological benefits are the same.Hearty Group laughter has profound short and long term effects on our mind and body:
Anti stress -
Unwinds the negative effects of stress by reducing stress related hormones and peptide levels.
Feel Good Hormones-
It releases endorphins, the feel good hormone. Endorphins create a positive state of mind and boost optimism, self confidence and feelings of self worth.
Immune System- Quickly boosts our immune system with increase in levels of anti viral and anti infection cells and also cells that fight cancer.
Oxygen and Aerobic Exercise- Laughter provides an excellent cardio and mind body workout. The heart rate increases in one minute of hearty laughter can take ten minutes to achieve on exercise machines.

Please Join Sangeeta Kirtikar, OTR, RYT an Occupational Therapist with over 15 years of practice in the field of Rehabilitation. She has extensive experience working with the adult population in a variety of settings and has also worked with the pediatric age group. Her accomplishment at the end of each day is the look of success and gratitude in the eyes of her clients.
Sangeeta is a registered Yoga teacher, Certified Laughter Yoga Leader, and has been practicing Yoga Therapy. Her strong belief in the human body's own healing capacity and that "Happiness and Relaxation can be felt at the cellular level" has prompted her to start her own work on "The Universal Connection to Health." Our bodies need a positive "internal environment" to create a path for long-term health. Laughter Yoga creates an ideal external environment where one can laugh for no reason at all!
