We-form Health Care Reform
By now it's clear that if any real transformation of our health care system is going to take place, it won't be top-down driven! That leaves it up to YOU and me to change things....we are the system. I'm in the process of revamping my teaching schedule and I'm very excited about the D(ynamic)S(ystems)R(ehabilitation) Method. Not another 'what' to do process, but the 'how' of what you do that will spark innovation and change in both you as the provider and your clientele. Read more...

Want news and ideas that stimulate your creativity?
If so, that is exactly what I work to do in my blog. So much of what is printed in the trade association publications is filtered and watered down to avoid offending anyone. I believe it is time we started talking about what matters most to us and our patients, whether it is uncomfortable or not politically correct. Anything less denies all of us the opportunity to generate transformational healing and change.
Please take a moment to click through and scan the topics I've been posting since last Fall. You have my guarantee it won't be a rehash of what you have been seeing. If you see something a colleague might enjoy, please pass it on with the "Email this" button. You can also subscribe to get a notice of new posts too. Let me know what you think...

Change You, Change Practice, You Practice Change
There are two exciting continuing education opportunities coming up. The first is....
Aug 20th evening and all day Saturday Aug 21st at Swan Rehab. AZ APTA 9.5 contact hours approved. Swan Rehab is sponsoring this seminar to further immerse their staff in
the dynamic systems method they experienced earlier this year. This
seminar introduces rehabilitation professionals to the benefits and
applications of dynamic systems theory in a clinical setting. The course
is designed to provide a lecture and lab experience for the
professional, as well as techniques for immediate clinical application. Learn more and register here.
The second is...
A 21st Century Yoga Response to MS: Moving beyond just asana to be in the world with an MS diagnosis
October 9-10, 2010 Phoenix AZ APTA hours applied for and Yoga Alliance hours. $180 All proceeds go the AZ MS Society as I'm donating my time. Come learn what I have to share to bridge the Yoga and rehab worlds in emerging mindbody science, to include the ground-breaking research I am doing with Matthew Sanford. You will never practice or treat the same again, and we have evidence that it will literally be good for your health as well! We'll have fun, we'll have volunteers with MS there the second day to "practice" and you will never look at your student/patient or self the same again - I promise! Learn more and register here. |
I Saw Your Name While I was Reading...
Over the past year I have been fortunate to get the
word out about a more comprehensive and compassionate way we can offer rehab
services. I have also decided there is an unheard voice in the rehab
world that cares about patient values and clinical mastery just as much
as research evidence. I've posted the articles that have either quoted or
featured me here.
Take a look and then approach your local publications
with a copy and suggest they feature you and your practice. The more
voices we get in the dialog, the faster real change happens. Read more here.
