Harvest Celebration Lunch
Come join your child as we celebrate the season at our Harvest Celebration Lunch, November 19th, 2009 in the gym at lunch time.  We will be serving up turkey & all the trimmings during an extended lunch time at Edgewood Community Elementary School.  Meals are $2.15 per child and $5 per adult - to help speed up the line please bring exact change or a check made payable to Nutrition Services.  Families may also pay using money in their student's account.  This option is only available if there is money deposited in their account prior to the day of the event.  We are looking for some volunteers to serve food along side our principal, Larry Williams.  We can coordinate this so that you can eat with your child and still serve during a different meal period.  Please contact Leah Edelman at leahedelman@yahoo.com  if you can help.
The meal times are as follows:

Kindergartners in the YMCA program eat at 10:55
1st & 2nd graders eat at  11:15
Alder Quad eats at 11:45
Douglas Fir Quad & E4 eat at 12:15

Home of the Ravens

The Haida people live on the Northwestern coast of the American continent. Haida are divided into clans, each represented by one or more totemic animals, whose spirits protect those who belong to the clan.

The Haida people in particular worked out a precise decorative style, well known and appreciated, in order to decorate their houses, canoes and for tattooing their protective totemic animals.

Most of the times totems are related to animals, and they are ascribed with magical properties and virtues, always carrying a teaching to men through the clan´s stories.

The Raven of Haida legend, was a mythical creature who was a creator and bringer of knowledge whose actions brought about significant changes to the world around him.
