Trail Fest Party

Trail Fest will once again be kicked off with a party at Chris King Precision Components. The evening will also include beer provided by Hopworks Urban Brewery and bike parking provided by Bikeracker. Seats are limited so get your RSVP in as soon as possible. It is going to be a great night!

Work Party at Stub Stewart State Park
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In keeping with tradition that began last year, the NWTA Trail Fest will include an event to give back to the trails. This year we will have a work party at Stub Stewart State Park. Stub Stewart is the only state park in Oregon that has mountain bike specific trails! Bring work gloves and dress for the weather. Trail work experience is not necessary. Come and have some fun in the dirt. Burgers and snacks will be provided by NWTA.

Swap Meet

 - Date: Sat, 04/23/2011 - 10:00am - 3:00pm
- Location:1300 N. River st. PDX (this is right under the Fremont Bridge on the east side).
- Attendee Cost: Entry is $5 from 10-1 and $2 from 1-3. All proceeds go to NWTA and thus to the trails you love to ride, so be cool and don't try and sneak in!
- Vendor Cost: Vendors pay $25 for a 10'x10' space, if you need a table you can rent one from us for $11, but you must RSVP a table (email joel@nw-trail to do so. Note: table rentals are expensive for you and us and a pain to move for everyone, do everyone a favor and bring your own or borrow one from a friend).
- Volunteers: Volunteers are needed, and they get a 30 min. pre-sale shopping spree from 9:30-10:00am before the rest of the public even get to see the stuff on the day of the event.

Rides of Spring - Gravity Ride

- Trail Location: Ravens Ridge (Reeher's Camp, Tillamook State Forest)
- Time: Sunday, April 24th, 8:30am - 2:30pm (shuttling starts at 9am)
- Riding level: Advanced
- Directions: Reehers Camp is located adjacent to Cochran Road at the 2 mile marker. It can be accessed by turning onto Timber Road from Highway 6 or Highway 26. After you pass the Camp, turn left at the Y intersection, then take the next right after you cross the train tracks. A few hundred yards to the left, you will see the bottom sign for the trail (Follow the little R signs on the trees).
- Requirements: helmet (full face recommended), knee pads (elbow or body armor recommended), tools (patch kit, pump, spare tubes, allen keys, etc.) plenty of water and food and your trusty bike.
- Trail Description: This is a DH practice race course. Top section is a short section of fire road that turns into single track. Steeper on upper half with roots - very technical. Middle section includes several jumps. Some short mandatory drops. Swoopy sections with G outs.

Rides of Spring - XC Ride

- Trail Location:Gales Creek/Storey Burn Trail (Gales Creek Camp Ground, Tillamook State Forest)
- Time: Sunday, April 24th, 10am - 2:30pm
- Riding Level: Intermediate and Advanced
- Directions: Travel on Highway 6 to milepost 35, and follow the signs 1.0 mile to Gales Creek Campground. Please drive with caution on the single-lane gravel road. The trailhead is located on the left before entering the campground. Parking is limited so plan on carpooling.
- Requirements: helmet; plan to bring adequate water and food supplies for the duration of the ride; a spare tube, tire levers, and hand pump in case of flat; and a rain shell in case of showers. Light rain does not cancel; heavy downpour or thunderstorm does. Bring a bike that's in good working condition (preferably one that has been tuned by a shop).
- Trail Description: Parking at Gales Creek CG, we will ride up Gales Creek Trail to Storey Burn TH with the option to continue on Gravelle Bros Trail, back down Storey Burn Trail returning to Gales Creek CG. The initial climb up Gales Creek Trail is steep and technical so plan accordingly.

Rides of Spring - Women's Clinic & Ride

Attention ladies! Come learn to how to tackle logs, conquer bridges, rail corners, and improve your climbing and descending skills with professional mountain-bike and cyclocross racer Sue Butler. Beginner to expert women welcome and encouraged. Depending on size and skill levels, riders may be split into groups to work on specific skill sets.

- What: Women's MTB Skills Clinic & Ride with Pro Sue Butler
- When: Sunday, April 24th
- Where: Jones Creek Day Use Area, Tillamook State Forest
- Access to Day Use Area (and maybe where we should meet on Sunday): west on Hwy 6, turn right between mile post 22 & 23 onto North Fork Road, cross bridge, turn left into Jones Creek Day Use Area. It takes ~45 min to get to this TH from Cornelius pass Rd.
- Requirements: helmet; plan to bring adequate water and food supplies for the duration of the ride; a spare tube, tire levers, and hand pump in case of flat; and a rain shell in case of showers. Light rain does not cancel; heavy downpour or thunderstorm does. Bring a bike that's in good working condition (preferably one that has been tuned by a shop).
