| Academy Visioning Committee |
A committee of PISD volunteer parents and staff are studying options for a new school of choice for our district. The committee is entitled the Academy Visioning Committee.
The Academy Visioning Committee has been studying, and will advise on, the feasibility of creating a Grade 9-12 option for PISD students that offers programs not currently available in the comprehensive high schools and senior high schools.
As the committee's work continues, the research materials have been published on the Plano ISD Academy Vision website found at http://www.pisd.edu/academy. Additionally, there is an area on this page for those who are interested to offer their input and suggestions via email.
A public input session is scheduled for November 3. At the November 3 meeting entitled, "Education Summit-Community Input Session", committee members will seek input from interested PISD parties and will bring that input to the working committee discussions. The November 3rd meeting will be held at the Plano Senior High School cafeteria from 7-8:30 p.m. This meeting will be led in table discussions. Input will be based upon collaborative table discussion and captured electronically in a format like that of the Academy Visioning Committee. It should be an exciting sharing time.
If you have an interest, please set aside some time to review the website materials and plan to attend the November 3 "Education Summit-Community Input Session". |

Invest Today! Plano ISD Foundation
Plano ISD Education Foundation is proud to kick off their annual community honor roll program. Last year, "I Love Plano ISD" yard signs began appearing at homes and businesses throughout the district as part of the Plano ISD Education Foundation's Community Honor Roll Campaign. This year the Foundation hopes to double the number of parents participating in the campaign. The Foundation has added a feature for community supporters to participate online by donating at www.pisd.edu/foundation. All participants donating over $50 will receive a yard sign to proudly display their support for Plano ISD.
The funds provided to the district by the Foundation remain in PISD and support district-wide programs. Programs currently funded include: Grants to Educators, math and science improvement initiatives, scholarships for 5th grade camp, elementary fitness programs, emergency grants for PISD employees in need, college preparation programs such as AVID, Family Literacy Program and many more. To view a complete list of programs please visit our website.
