,
Happy New Year! I hope you had a peaceful and relaxing winter break. It seemed to go by very quickly! On February 13, the Jasper PTSA along with Clubs and Boosters in the school will be hosting "A Night at the Oscars". A student advisory committee chose the theme, attire and activities. This will be the only dance or party at Jasper this year and we are relying on all of our students, parents and staff to make this a success. Know of a fun activity that students would like? Please share any ideas you may have with us. And more importantly, start asking your student if they plan to attend. They can come alone, bring a date, or come with a group of friends. Thanks, Amy Newell Jasper PTSA President president@jasperptsa.org

Plano ISD Council of PTAs Legislative Advocacy Project
Would you like
to have some input into when your child starts school? Then you may want to consider the following online petition.
http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/txschoolstartdate/
The petition simply states:
I support local control of the school calendar.
The current statute that mandates a uniform school start date should be
repealed, or at a minimum, the waiver process should be reinstituted.
Parents, school staff and residents of our communities should be able to help
select a school calendar that works best toward addressing their communities'
concerns and enables their students to achieve the highest academic success
possible.

Jasper High School - Directory News
In December the PTSA began distributing the 2009 -2010 directories to students whose families are members of the PTSA. We quickly realized that many families had been omitted in the final printing. If your family was not included in the original distribution of the directory, we apologize. Our Directory Chairman spent an enormous amount of time entering information for the directory and we are very grateful for all of the hours that she volunteered. Over winter break our Directory Chairman and Membership Chairman went through all of the forms a second time and created a supplement that contains all of the names that were lost in the merging of the final document. If your student has not yet picked up their directory, please have them stop by the front office where they will receive a directory and the supplement. If your student picked up your directory before Winter Break, they can pick up a supplement in the front office. We apologize to all the families whose information was not in the directory. If you have any questions, please call me. Sincerely, Debbie Rynas Jasper PTSA Membership Chairman drynas@sbcglobal.net 972-898-0703
