Auburn Hills Christian School Newsletter

                September 17, 2012

Congratulations to The Apostolic Church Sanctuary Choir!  They competed in the Verizon Wireless How Sweet the Sound choir competition Saturday night.  They won the People's Choice award for the third year in a row and they won the award for the best choir in this region.  This choir will now be flown to New York to participate in the National Finals on November 4th.  Nine of our AHCS staff members and several of our alumni are members of this choir.  In fact, the choir director is our own Concert Choir teacher Buffie Dumas.  While we are thankful for the win, the best part was truly the way that the Lord moved as they sang under the anointing.  Joe Louis Arena literally exploded in worship as they began to sing.  For those of you that may not have a church home, you are invited to a concert put on by the choir this Sunday, September 23rd at 11am.  Auburn Hills Christian School is blessed to be able to have school each day within The Apostolic Church building.  We are thankful for the support and we ask that the AHCS family prays for this choir as they travel to New York.  We will also rearrange our schedule a little bit.  We will now have school on October 22nd, which was previously scheduled as a Records Day.  We will still hold Parent Teacher Meetings that night from 5pm - 8pm.  We will not have school on Monday, November 5th.

Scholastic Book Fair

We are quickly approaching our fall Scholastic book fair! The theme will be "Reading All-Stars" and it will take place October 1-5. Mark your calendars for our Grand Lunch on Tuesday, October 2nd from 11:00-12:30. We will also have a family event in the evening that week in celebration of our Lady Cougars Volleyball team. We will provide more details on that as the event gets closer.

As always, we need a lot of help to make both our

book fair and our events a success, so if you would like

to volunteer to help during the day or after school,

please email Miss Kristin Naughton at  kristin.naughton@ahchristian.com. The proceeds from this book fair will be used to add technology to our elementary and high school classrooms. With the proceeds from our last book fair we were able to purchase a SMART board for our elementary and a document camera for our science lab; it was all thanks to your participation. Thank  you!

See You At The Pole

Wednesday, September 26th is

National See You At The Pole Day -

the annual global day of student prayer.

That morning we would like as many students as possible to meet at the flagpole at 7:30am.  As a school, we will worship and pray for our friends, families, school, churches, community and our country.  We are blessed to be able to begin every day with prayer at AHCS, but this is an opportunity for our entire school to unite in prayer together.
