Auburn Hills Christian School Newsletter

August 27, 2012

Well we have completed our first week of the 2012-2013 school year!  We are off to a great start and we kicked it off with a wonderful night at the carnival and bonfire.  Thank you Miss Kristin Naughton for all of your organizing for this event!

We would like to welcome all of the new students to the AHCS family and to those who are returning, welcome back to another great year!

We are so thankful that God has allowed us the privilege of educating and influencing your students at AHCS!  Please continue to pray with us for the students and families of Auburn Hills Christian.

We also ask that you keep Sister Carmen Fullmer in your prayers as she continues to heal from her surgery and begins her treatment.  She is in great spirits and is healing wonderfully!  She says she can definitely feel all of the prayers and she is very thankful!

Fundraising

Boxes of Candy Bars are finally available in the school office!  With each box that is sold there is $26 taken off of your Fundraising Commitment.

Entertainment Books were sent home on Friday with your students.  You can use the books to take orders for more.  If you do not wish to purchase them, please just send them back to school.  You will be billed for them if they are not returned.  Half of the profits from this sale will be taken off of your Fundraising Commitment and half will go to our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO).

Iffy Groups

Our Iffy groups will meet this Wednesday during lunch and then they will meet the last Wednesday of every month for the rest of the year.  This is an open group and everyone that chooses to can join.  The only requirement is that life is not perfect and all figured out.  Everyone feels "iffy" sometimes and this group aims to create support for those who want to be a part.  The focus this year will be self esteem.

Pat Jackson, our Guidance Counselor, facilitates this program.  She is a certified Family Life Educator, with an Associates Degree in Mental Health Counseling also.  She is also available to meet with families that may need supplemental resources.  Some of the resources that she can direct families towards are

Donated Dental Services

Help for Homeowners

Help with Utilities

DHS Services

Housing, Etc

Call the School Office to make an appointment to speak with Pat Jackson.

Monday Mailer

Each Monday we will send home a folder with information from the school office to all of the parents with students in the Elementary.  The folder is labeled with your student's name and grade.  Inside the folder there is a pocket that says Keep and a pocket that says Return.  You should keep the items in the Keep side and look through the items in the Return side to see what may need to be done with them.  Sometimes there are forms to be filled out, homework that needs to be finished, tests that need to be signed and bills go home in these folders at the end of the month.  We do our best to make it very self-explanatory.  There is also a paper attached in the middle for you to sign and date each week, telling us that you have viewed the folder.  This folder is to be returned on Tuesday morning.  On the weeks when we do not have school on Monday, the folder will go home on Tuesday and should be returned on Wednesday. These folders carry important information and it is one of the ways that we make an effort to communicate with you.  Please remember to check your student's backpacks and bags or ask them if they have their Monday Mailer.  In the event that we have nothing to send home that week, we will post in our newsletter that there will not be a Monday Mailer that week.
