Happy Mother's Day to all of you beautiful mothers. As a mother myself, I understand that the job of motherhood tests one's patience and strength every single day. But what I have come to see is that all we can do is continue to be role models to our children because everything we do is truly a lesson to them. I came across this excerpt from the book Something Beautiful for Mother which I feel truly portrays this relationship between mothers and children:

Abound in Love

May the Lord make you increase and abound in love to one another and to all.

1 Thessalonians 3:12

It was a privilege to grow up surrounded by my mother's friends. Because she had eight children, she didn't go places to visit. Her friends came to her, and I listened to their conversations.

Those wonderful women modeled a caring Christlike community. When anyone was sick or in trouble or when there was a death in the family, my mother and her friends rallied to provide whatever was needed: a meal, a helping hand, a listening ear. They were a blessing in one another's lives. They demonstrated love, which through the years increased. Even today their influence shapes me.

As this passage illustrates, we TOGETHER, as mothers have the ability to teach by example and share our love and compassion with all children. This is a beautiful gift that I am eternally thankful for and I know other mothers can relate to. So in this month of May, I want to show my appreciation for all the mothers that work hard every day to ensure our children learn the valuable lessons of life.

Sincerely,

Sandra Ishmael

Friends of the World Charitable Trust just celebrated their second annual Fundraiser at the Tirrell Room in Quincy, on May 2nd. The evening included good food, good friends, and lots of really great raffle and silent auction prizes.   Kathleen's daughter and several of her friends modeled saris, which are beautiful clothing typically worn in Bangladesh and India. Sandra Ishmael, Bob McCarthy and Susan Canavan were able to share their experiences in Bangladesh and also share their vision for Friends of the World Charitable Trust. Thank you to all who participated in the event, those who provided donations and also offered their prayers to make the event such a success!
