Allure Spa                               August 2011

Greetings,

We have had a wonderful summer here at Allure Spa! We have been busy with manicures and pedicures, facials and body treatments, and several wedding parties, including one for our very own Michaela, who got married in July. Congratulations to Michaela and her husband, Jarrah!

We have also been extremely busy with my mission work. I am so proud to say that five Allure Spa employees have volunteered to go to Bangladesh to teach cosmetology to the orphans at Home of Joy. Julianne, Kathleen, Keleigh, Molly and myself are very excited to begin teaching. The first group leaves mid-September, so please continue to pray for us!

I would also like to give a huge congratulations and thank you to Sue Canavan, owner of Aura Salon in Quincy. Not only has she volunteered to travel to Bangladesh as one of the trainers, but she also threw an enormously successful and very enjoyable fundraiser at ALBA on August 4 to benefit Friends of the World. She raised over $9,000! To all of you who came out, thank you. And thank you to Leo at ALBA for donating the roof and the delicious food. I am so grateful to be surrounded by such generous, committed and amazingly talented people as we take the trade to orphans in Bangladesh! Check out the article in the Patriot Ledger, as well as the video (featuring yours truly), about the fundraiser: http://www.patriotledger.com/news/x919513553/Video-Quincy-salon-owner-raises-money-Bangladesh-beauty-school

I have known all along that God has a plan for my ministry in Bangladesh and now I am seeing so clearly the fruits of my labor. The classrooms are ready, twenty orphaned young women are signed up for the course and we are leaving in September to begin teaching!

As we enjoy this last full month of summer, I want to encourage you all to take the time to appreciate your accomplishments and the goals you have been working toward. Be rested, refreshed and renewed for September, which will bring the realization of one of the visions closest to my heart and many of your dreams too, I hope.

God Bless,
Sandra Ishmael
