Emerging Technology continues to break barriers and Indian movie industry continues to enthrall the audience worldwide. The other day, a friend from Netherland was commenting on Bollywood movies and the smartness of Indian software professionals (well - unrelated topics but decidedly Indian themes). Some things never change.. do they ?

Empowered - Creating Social Networking HEROes in your Corporation

Recently Harvard Business Review (HBR) published a fantastic article from the upcoming book titled Empowered - written by authors Josh Bernoff and Ted Schadler of Forrester Research.
 
This article discussed what Josh and Ted call the HERO Compact. HERO refers to Highly Empowered and Resourceful Operatives or employees who have the drive and skills to become powerful Social Network managers or Empowered Spokespeople for their firm. The HERO Compact is the collaboration between HEROes, Managers and IT who need to come together in the modern world to "unleash your employees, energize your customers and transform your business" - this article is an overview of how empowered and motivated employees can represent firms on Social Networks, on zillions of media channels and most importantly, in front of firms' customers. It is a take on Crowdsourcing ( leveraging power of the community to energize a firm and its customers ) with an employee twist.
 
The Empowered article illustrates dozens of examples from firms like Best Buy, Nestle and United Airlines which show how a few tweets or social media bursts from irate customers brought these venerable firms to their knees in their respective markets. Then the article goes to show how these firms had to come up with innovative HERO-driven environment which took the power of their employees to create a viable marketing force.
