About Karen Maxcy
Karen Maxcy joined the law firm as an attorney in August 2005. In 2008, Karen became a partner as the law firm made its transition from Wagoner Bankruptcy Group, P.C. to Wagoner Maxcy Westbrook, P.C.
Karen started as a law clerk (while a law student) in 2003 and has assisted thousands of clients through the bankruptcy process. She remains firmly committed to helping families especially in these unprecedented tough times. She is continually inspired by the lives and stories of her clients.
Before her law career, Karen worked as a news writer with different media companies including CNBC Asia in Singapore and the Radio Business Report, Inc. in Alexandria, Virginia. Deciding to go to law school was an extension of Karen's love of writing. Although law school was definitely more reading than writing, Karen enjoyed her stint as Articles Editor for the Urban Lawyer, the American Bar Association's National Quarterly Journal on State and Local Government. She represented UMKC School of Law at the Duberstein Bankruptcy Moot Court Competition in New York City.
Born and raised in Singapore, Karen became a U.S. citizen in September 2004 and voted in her first American presidential elections that year. She lives in Kansas City, Missouri with her husband Jeff who is a Department of Army Civilian at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. They share their home with Lily (daughter; born in 2007) and Maddie (shih tzu). |
