This is a busy month for us at Beyond the Mirror! February 20-26th is Eating Disorder Awareness Week! We have BIG plans for this event! First of all we are encouraging local health & fitness clubs to let us hang framed affirmations above the locker room scales for the whole week. In return, we will give them FREE advertising for the entire week on our website & in our newsletter! So.... if you are a fitness club owner, and I haven't call you, give me a call to set up this AMAZING opportunity.

National Eating Disorders Awareness Week! February 20-26 What is NEDAwareness Week?NEDAwareness Week is a collective effort of primarily volunteers, including eating disorder professionals, health care providers, students, educators, social workers, and individuals committed to raising awareness of the dangers surrounding eating disorders and the need for early intervention and treatment. The mission of NEDAwareness WeekOur aim of NEDAwareness Week is to ultimately prevent eating disorders and body image issues while reducing the stigma surrounding eating disorders and improving access to treatment. Eating disorders are serious, life-threatening illnesses - not choices - and it's important to recognize the pressures, attitudes and behaviors that shape the disorder.

Body Bella is a collection of work by innovative and intriguing local artists that provides the viewer with a variety of perspectives regarding human beauty, body preoccupation and body image. This exhibition invites the viewer to examine their concept of beauty and to wrestle with our culture's narrow and largely unattainable ideals. Then, perhaps, the viewer can redefine beauty and find a way to celebrate every body, including their own.

About Us
Beyond the Mirror is a Center for Counseling & Wellness. We offer counseling, massage & nutrition education to youth and adults. Counseling is available to individuals struggling with many of life's issues including: depression, anxiety, greif & loss, abuse, relationship issues, body image, disordered eating, GLBT issues, & sexuality. We have counselors who specialize in education & treatment for individuals who are experiencing struggles with food, body image & disordered eating. This includes individuals who are struggling with: emotional eating, recreational eating, binge eating, compulsive over-eating, body image issues and eating disorders (anorexia & bulimia). Services are available to all individuals regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender expression, age, height, body type, physical or mental abiity, or economic status. Insurance is acccepted for counseling services & sliding fees are available to those who need them. |
