Dear Friends of FarmPlate,

Last week we had our first real snow. School was canceled and I took the afternoon off--four hours of shoveling later we had built a 5-room snow fort which has since been the setting for many festive family meals! Let's hope it keeps snowing--we're planning to turn it into our very own Ice Hotel.

As if the season isn't busy enough already, in tomorrow's blog we'll give you a preview of some delicious Christmas Eve menus around the State of Vermont, including a particularly unusual dinner hosted by The Four Chimneys Inn in Bennington featuring recipes from the 1950s--wish I were there!

To help with your holiday preparations, last week we shared some of our favorite cookie recipes (common thread = passed down from our grandmothers!). In today's blog, check out our favorite festive drinks--all made with Vermont products. Check back next Wednesday for quick-to-prepare hors d'oeuvres for those inevitable last-minute guests.

If you've had it with the kitchen, read our blog this Friday to learn about one of my favorite bakeries of all-time. Alison and Andrew can come to your rescue and supply you with pastries and baked goodies to carry you into the New Year. It may even be worth the trip to pick up my bûche de noël this year  . . .

Enjoy the season!
