Dear Friends of FarmPlate,
I for one cannot believe it's December. My secret to enjoying this time with my family is that I make a point to find special gifts throughout the year and try to avoid the last-minute rush. Inevitably, however, I find myself looking for a few presents come mid-December, and there is nothing more thoughtful and personal than giving someone a carefully selected book.
In today's blog, we share some of our top cookbook picks for 2009. It's an eclectic list, so there should be something for everyone. One of my personal favorites is LA's Original Farmers Market Cookbook. I'm planning to give it to my daughter this Christmas (shhh!) as a memento of a fun trip we took together just over a year ago. Here she is pictured next to the market's signature green shopping baskets--a quick photo break in between sampling and feasting!
Check back with us tomorrow to find out where in Vermont you can learn to make candy canes, meet one of the cookbook world's legendary figures, Judith Jones, as well as party down with the next generation of farmers. On Friday, read about the Woodstock Farmer's Market--named 2009 Retailer of the Year by the National Association for the Specialty Food Trade. Patrick, aka Chairman of Fun, and his dynamic crew are ready to ship culinary treats from around the world right to your doorstep.
Thanks for all the feedback we've received so far--keep it coming!
